Well, now that the 2007 Spring Game is in the books, it's time to predict the Buckeyes' record for the upcoming season.

In 2004, LordJeffBuck took off the scarlet-colored glasses and predicted an 8-4 season (with an upset win over Michigan); as you might remember, the Bucks finished 8-4, and were victorious (again) over Michigan.

2004 Poll Results

In 2005, LordJeffBuck predicted a 10-2 "near miss" season, with close losses to Texas and Penn State; of course, LJB hit the nail on the head again, as the season played out just as he had predicted.

2005 Poll Results

In 2006, LordJeffBuck predicted that the Bucks would go 12-1, and win the NC - I got the record correct, but missed on the NC part.

2006 Poll Results

This year, I'm going to hold off for a while on my predicition, but I think that the Buckeyes could be a darkhorse candidate for a national championship.

Tease.

I'm going to stick with my prediction from the pre-spring game poll...11-2. I didn't see anything to change my thinking. I still think we drop 2 of the 3 to PSU, Wiscy and scUM...leaning towards PSU & Wiscy. I think we'll knock off scUM in Ann Arbor, and pull out another bowl victory(most likely non-BCS).
Kind of a "rebuilding year". It all really comes together for another run at the National Title in 2008.

I also said 11-2. We'll lose to Penn State and Michigan (gah!) but pull it out against Wisconsin. The defense is looking really, really good, and remember that Tressel is a quarterbacks coach. I have every faith that he'll get Boeckman or whoever to be at least adequate. So all I see us needing to have a successful season, get to the BCS at-large and such, will be a Michael Jenkins stepping up in the receiver corps. Especially since our TEs are looking good and The Law Firm will be carrying the ball.

This team reminds me more of 2002 Ohio State than 2004 Ohio State. It's not an overly young team, it's just a defensive team with an inexperienced offense.

Didn't we already have this thread? Or am I thinking of last year's? That year went by too fast. And yet, not fast enough.

I went with my standard 11-2 response. Ok- maybe it isn't standard, since I think I answered 10-2 a couple of years ago.

Anyway, I think they'll tie for the big ten championship at 6-2. Wins otherwise.

I don't like the trip to Happy Valley. The Bucks have not played well there. Wiscy at home... They have a good defense, but I don't think they have that much on offense... and it's a home game. Michigan retains a lot of offensive talent and experience. I happen to believe they were lucky to play OSU close the last two years with the Bucks putting the ball on the ground far more than they did in any other big game(s).

The loss of Pittman doesn't seem important, but the loss of Hall, Gonzo and Ginn in one season seems a bit more than any one offense can take on. Also the back ups at QB didn't see squat in real games. The trip to Seattle seems to me to be the crucial test for the season.

11-2. Thank goodness for what imo is a very unimpressive schedule.

I will be very disappointed if our defense isnt near the top of every positive category at the mid-season mark. We may do better if our offense is better than I think, but I dunno.

It all depends on how quick the QB 'get's it'....whoever that may be. I have never been a Shoenhoft fan, not because of his talent, but because of his head...I just don't think he has it where it counts...and his high school teams were dominating, but he barely completed 50 percent of his passes, for not a ton of yards and a lot of picks...Please let it be Boeckman and let him get 'it' quick.

I see 'non-wins' coming at PSU, Wisky, at scUM...with the potential for a rookies QB's nerves making costly mistakes on the road for an upset loss along the way against a squad that the Bucks should beat...i.e, Washington.

9-3 to 8-4
