What song are you listening to right now

If you want to see more, search in YT for “Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy Metro.”

I’ve known Jason for close to 30-years and have really enjoyed following his career from his own bands to when he’s playing bass for Bob Mould. I got to see this show on Friday with the oldest kiddo who came in town for this, which made it even more special. It’s hard to place this relative to other shows that I’ve seen because technically it was all covers… but it was about as good of a show as I’ve ever seen.

If you are an REM fan at all, and if this show comes to your area… I highly recommend it. I’m not sure if we got the ‘bonus’ tracks here in Chicago (Jason’s home town), but they played… and I shit you not… three full hours of REM. Started with Fables from front to back and then hit on stuff from Chronic Town to at least Monster (which is where I kind of tapped out). Before the Fables shows they did Murmur as well. Guys from REM have joined them on stage so apparently it’s well appreciated by them. A couple of cool guests showed up on stage as well. Scott Lucas from Local H as well as Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) sang songs with the band.

Aside from the sorority girl bit, I’ve not known Michael Shannon. Walked away from the show blown away by his stage presence. After three hours he had zero left.

As far as the band goes, I’ve seen REM IIRC 5x between Life’s Rich and the Green tour and they never sounded as good on stage is this band did on Friday.

Finally, the opening act was from Cleveland. He was a riot. Dave Hill:

I hope you enjoy.
