Wrong glass, Sir.
No fan of domers, but how the hell did this not result in an ejection?

Agreed. Maybe 15 years ago that's a celebrated pass break up I don't think twice about, but for what the game is today, that seemed like textbook intent to go head-hunting. Was shocked that wasn't called. That is what is soooo fucking frustrating about the targeting rules in CFB
We've all seen numerous shots that were less flagrant than this one be called and result in an ejection.
This was the most egregious no call of targeting I can think of recently. Should have been 1st down after 15 yard penalty and that UT safety ejected.
only issue is that next game is against Jacksonville St. so even if he sits that whole game, people will say somethin to the effect of "of course they'll suspend him for an FCS game, instead of one that matters"
.
I think what makes it worse is that he was already sitting the 1st half of the next game regardless, and since it happened late in the 4th he's really only getting a half game suspension from the school. If it happened in the 1st half and he already sat out the required next half by the rules, I couldn't really argue with the decision, as he's serving a full game suspension the next game, which (fortunately for LSU) is a cupcake of a game. LSU should have either made him serve a full game on top of the required half by the rules, and they can then make the call if they want to break it up over the next two games by having him sit out all of the next game and the 1st half of the following one, or play in the 2nd half of the next game and then sit the full game following it. Ideally they'd just call it a "2 game" suspension since he was already sitting the 1st half of the next game no matter what, but that's just my IMO.
there are some on our board advocating letting him keep his scholly, but kick him off the team.
that may be a bit harsh since he is a senior with zero prior issues, but it show that no one is happy about what happened and all are in favor of a harsh penalty.
It was targetting. He got half more game than the norm. Not sure what the issue is. I told my son he'd be out half of next weeks game. The fact that it's more than that is enough.
Football is a violent, emotional game. Lapses of judgement are going to occur sometimes.
