What makes a team succeed?

Um, yeah. Golf isn't a sport.

How do you figure?

also of note sometimes when you play the russians in basketball the team who scores less points wins the game but thats the one exception...

If you're talking about 1972 (or was it 1968?), when the United States won, and then won the re-do, and then won again, and then lost, I think it was more just a situation of the Russians had the power of "Do-Over." They eventually scored more points - possibly not legally, though.

hope1000,

Using the 2002 Buckeyes as an example would be great. "Leadership" from top to bottom was a key here, as was great coaching and a great team attitude. Go back to the day that Mike Doss announced that as a two-time All-American that he was returning for his senior season. THAT was what got the ball rolling for the Buckeyes. Having Mike stay in school and vow to shoot for a National Championship, in my opinion, fired this group up to succeed like nothing else. Having a player of his caliber pass up millions of dollars to stay in school had a huge influence on the players around him, and the National Tiltle was theirs. "Leadership."
