What kind of car do you drive?

Picked up a new whip. 991.2 911 GTS Cabriolet. So, net… net… Wide body 911 convertible, rear wheel drive, with 450 HP and roughly 400 lb ft torque and PDK. The GTS has bigger turbos than the base or S models but not quite as much as the Turbo 911. Stage 1 tune puts it well over 500 HP at the wheel which is probably overkill. Frick’n wheels are like 12 inches wide in the back. It’s a lot of rubber on the road. And if you’ve read about / heard about the widow maker… hanging the engine on the wrong side of the rear wheels gets you what you expect. It’s a very precise drive but if you’ve got the nanny controls off, if you lift your foot off in a turn you can really fuck yourself quickly. The weight shift in turns without traction control is something you have to get used to. I don’t do it often. Traction control in this car is a good thing. Very good.

Sold the Audi S4. Kept the Audi S6 for winter.

Oh, yeah, well I sold my F-150 and bought...

An F-150.

Which like the last one has a naturally aspirated v-8 (395hp), but the aluminum body is well, pretty light and impressive.
My S4 was the last of the NA Audi V8s. I loved the immediate connection between my foot and acceleration. With close to 400 HP and no weight in the back you can have a lot of fun with that, I’m sure.

All I know is that if trucks were what they are now back when I was younger, I’d probably be more interested in them. They’ve come a LONG way in terms of comfort and drivability.

If you get a chance you should look into the Porsche Experience. I went three years ago for my 60th birthday (my wife is awesome). Getting to run 911's (including Turbo S) around Skip Barber race track was incredible.

I happen to know someone who, among other things, is the product manager for a telemetry-based safe driving score… Among those other things, is being my wife. She’s got connections down there and has suggested that I tag along for when she’s down there for work.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll have to ask her about it again. I’m VERY bullish to try the new hybrid 911 GTS. It’s a brilliant design to use the hybrid motor to keep the turbo spinning to reduce lag. Brilliant. It will be interesting to see if they have any issues with the design as it’s pretty complicated… but it’s brilliant.
