In retrospect, was our competition really that great? I'd say by the way the "Big 2" of the Big-10 performed in our respective bowl games definately leaves some doubt as to how good we really are/were in relation to the rest of the country. Not to be negative, but it's the truth.

We got our ass kicked, choking had nothing to do with it. Florida did exactly what they needed to do to win: (1) get Leak in a rhythm, and (2) take Troy out of his game. Florida's defensive staff did a great job of mixing their calls, and, even when they didn't blitz, they got pressure with four. UF's offensive staff knew that the Bucks had some match-up problems in the secondary, thus relatively little man coverage, and were able to exploit it. No excuses, Florida took it to us, physically and schematically.

Yes, I am...what pains me much more than this loss is dipshits that offer Cryami-like excuses for everything...like many dUMb fans, for instance. If you can't say the other team earned it when they won 41-14, there is no way in hell you should even be watching the sport, let alone posting your stupidity on message boards.

Bottom line is that coach Tressel has come up huge in big games for us the vast majority of the time, we have 3 straight and 4/5 over dUMb, and we've played for what 115 other teams (117 now, I guess) all wanted to 2x in the past 5 years. I'm happy with the effort of our team, even if some assnozzle from some school that's been beaten senseless the past 3 seasons isn't.

OK...what has become obvious is that many "fans" like this guy wanted so badly to be able to deride the SEC in order to cover their own insecurities, that now with out unfortunate loss tonight we have spoiled their plans, so now instead of Florida actually winning, we just "choked", like we were playing Grand Valley State and Florida didn't play anybody, blah, blah, blah, Cryami-style whining blah. I am as big a critic of the "SEC is God" mentality as anyone, but when a team wins a game 41-14, only a blind 3 year old who has never been exposed to football or Mike Hart would think that the winning team didn't actually win.

Did we play to our capabilities? No, not even close, but Florida had plenty to do with that. "Choking" is botching a snap on a 20 yard field goal, because that's all on you...not getting beat by a very talented and athletic team.

Here's the deal: Florida played their best game of the year, by FAR. Our guys played their worst, by FAR. It's not an either-or, it's both. We can congratulate them on all of the aspects of the game that they nailed -- their kicker, their playcalling, Leak's accuracy, Tebow's running, every aspect of their defense, etc.

We can also be frustrated as hell that the Bucks didn't look one bit like the team we've been watching all year. One team was brilliant, and the other dreadful. Yes, their brilliance made our dreadfulness more apparent, and our dreadfulness made their brilliance more apparent.

Either way, you can't say that Florida isn't all that, because they were. They'd have hammered the weasels also, along with every other team in college football. You also can't say that OSU played a good game, because we all know how to read a flippin' box score. Every BCS team this year not named Notre Dame would have beaten the Bucks tonight, some of them badly.

That's the reality of it. Sometimes you lose, sometimes you get your ass kicked, and sometimes you lose AND get your ass kicked.

The Scarlet and Grey game can't get here soon enough.

Don't forget that we represent the BIG TEN... we're the outright big ten champions that got chomped and broken by an ok team that was supposed lose against us.

Settle down and step away from the edge... Ohio State is still the Buckeyes and that means they will be fine. Someone had to lose last night and unfortunately for us it was the Buckeyes. If the Big10 reputation takes a hit, and rightfully it should this year, the only thing the teams can do is buckle down next year and reverse that perception.
