What Brands Are You Loyal To?

Adding L.L. Bean to the list.

I just ordered my third pair of Bean Maine Hunting boots. I still own, and use, the first pair I purchased in ‘88 as a freshman in the Towers. They are primarily for yard work and are pretty beat up but still highly functional, albeit a bit small for my feet these days. My second pair I ordered maybe five years ago. I got the Gortex / thinsulate lining in those, but they were a bit too big for my feet. A year ago I was power washing the back porch and the power washer hosed up the rubber boot part. Sending them in for repair... $45 to replace both boots. When they get back they’ll go to my youngest son who is a true size 11... and I’ll enjoy the new pair in size 10.

This is why you do business with British luxury brands. Impeccable service (the co-founder emailed me today assisting me in how to go about contacting Ohio State's trademark office to see if he could do a one-off pocket square or jacket lining for me with an Ohio Stadium shot). Storage box, signed thank you card from the founder, complimentary metal collar stays, and the quality is fucking phenomenal.

So I purchased my first pair of "hoka one one" running shoes last year. Already committed to them for the long haul. The best running shoes I have ever owned.

I have been committed to Osprey when it comes backpacks or luggage. I have 5 hiking/backpacking packs, 1 carry on luggage, 1 checked luggage, and 2 duffel bags. My first purchase was back in 2011. I haven't had any issues with any of my purchases.

Apparently, our vaunted copyright office can't even give a Presidents' Club member a form letter reply about my having Rampley & Co do a one-off Ohio Stadium pocket square or jacket lining, so it looks like that dream is dead in the water. So, I needed something with a flash of red in it and marked this. "The 28th Regiment at Quatre Bras" Funny how the literal fucking British Museum is fine working with Rampley, but Ohio State's trademark office can't be bothered. OH well, I feel that I'm descending down a deep, dark rabbit hole with this company.

Nicer in person than the ad pic it looks like to me. That's always a plus

I've gone over them pretty closely. Finishing and detail and leather quality is definitely a step above Allen Edmonds (which is worlds above your mall shoes like Cole-Haan); they're pretty much close to perfect.. Is it worth 1.5 x the full price of AE? Probably. Is it worth double or triple over what you can get AE on sale? Meh. Depends. That said, I'm all in on the Skyfall boots going into Winter.

Between my burgeoning interest in luxury English shoes and Rampley & Co. pocket squares, I might have to start driving Uber on the weekends.

I imagine you mowing your yard in khakis and dress shoes.

Ha.

I don't remember owning any cole Hahns or I would bash them with you.

But if you're paying for fit and finish, its nice to get it.

I usually pay for function in most things, but finish is usually a good indicator that someone has thought through the product.

I've spent most.of.the last 15 years in Salomons and doc martens. Only disappointments are when the uk docs don't hold up as well as the asian ones, and its craftsmanship not materials.

That said, fit isn't easy for me always.

Hope you love those

I saw that pic and reminded me of running across duckhead khakis just after they went out in about 92 at some outlet store. They had 4 pairs in my size, 1 almost white, 2 regular desert and 1 green... She let me have all 4 for $30
