The Companions of the Hall. Bruenor's a badass. I have all of those books up until The Hunter's Blades Trilogy.

If you are just now starting this series, I hope you read Homeland, Exile and Sojourn first. Although the Crystal Shard was written and released first, it is the fourth book in chronological order.

The Kite Runner

Don't let the title keep you away. A very unusual style of writing-about two boyhood friends in Afghanistan-one Sunni, the other Shiite. Gives great insight into a culture that we just don't understand as well as we should, considering the potential impact from that region. I consider myself a very well read person-but this was very enlightening and has really contributed to a reshaping of my thinking with regards to the middle east.
