The Fellowship of the Ring....J. R. Tolkien. After seeing the movies countless times, I decided to read the series.

"The Lord of the Rings" trilogy is addicting. I've read the entire story several times and it never gets old. The movie, though OK, doesn't come remotely close to doing the story justice. Jackson made, IMHO, several really bad ommisions, and took several really bad liberties with the story. But you'll see.:tongue2:

Oh, currently reading "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley.

The Real All-Americans, by Sally Jenkins. It's a good read about the Carlisle Indian School and their football program.

It disproves the myth that ND's Gus Dorais and Knute Rockne (as a player) were the first to frequently use the forward pass in college football in 1913. St. Louis University used the pass in 1906, and Carlisle often used it in 1907, after it was legalized following the 1905 season (but incomplete forward passes resulted in a 15-yard penalty). The same set of rule changes included 10 yards being needed for a first down, rather than 5.

To Rockne's credit, he did not take credit for being the first to popularize the forward pass. The myth was propagated by some ignorant sportswriters.
