What book are you currently reading, or recommend?

This summer I have to read three books for school...

1. Last of the Mohicans (Currently reading)

2. The Killer Angels

3. Farenheit 451

If anyone wants to summarize them in a two page report you can just post it on here...
Go to the video store and rent Gettysburg with Tom Berenger and Jeff Daniels. That movie is an adaptation of The Killer Angels and it follows the novel almost scene-for-scene (that's why it's 4 hours long). Farenheit 451 is a short book but well worth reading. The movie version is vastly inferior.

Just took down a couple light reads: Cast of Shadows by Kevin Guilfoile, and Big Fish by Daniel Wallace.

Big Fish is a well-written, moving read about a son coming to grips with his fathers impending death. It's quick, and worth reading even if you've seen the movie.

I am now re-reading my favorite book of all time, Great Expectations.

I just finished a couple more of Lehane's books. The first two in his private detective series. Very good reads, especially Darkness, Take My Hand.
I just finished that one last night, good book. I just got notification from the library that 1776 is ready for me, so I will be starting that one this weekend.

I have read everything by Elmore Leonard, in my mind he is the best crime writer out there. He has one out now called "The Hot Kid" anyone read it yet? I need to pick it up.

I just bought 1776 this weekend. I've read the first 60 pages so far and it is a good read...of course, I might be biased as McCullough has been one of my favorite biographers since I read John Adams and saw him speak on the book at Ohio State.

Anyone reading anything good?

I just finished Kite Runner. There's a reason this book is getting so much hype. If you're looking for a good father-son story, I recommend it.

Right now I'm reading a book of fucked-up short stories called The Lone Surfer of Montana, Kansas. Even though the author (Davy Rothbart) lives in Ann Arbor, it's still good!

Must admit I never even imagined the emotional healing power of a urinal puck until I read The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint by Brady Udall. The main character is this poor kid who just can't catch a break in life... one ridiculously horrific situation after another. It's equal parts feeling awful for the boy and cracking up... the humor is odd and very well done. I think this crowd would enjoy it.

did you read Truman?i just finished "class action" which details the sexual harassment received by the minnesota female miners. it's the original idea behind the movie "north country" which is about to be released. of course i imagine the movie stinks compared to the book. the book is very good.

I haven't had the opportunity to read anything else by McCullough and it will probably be next summer before I get the chance. I had forgot how little time there was for reading for fun when you are school.

So, top of my list right now are:

Higher Education Law in America
Contemporary Issues in Higher Education Law
Applied Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences
The Functions of the Executive
Blink: The Power of Thinking without Thinking

:sleep2: :sleep2: :sleep2:

Luckily, my bed stand reading is a little more entertaining:The Treason of Isengard, which is volume two of The History of Lord of the Rings, published by Tolkien's son outlining the process of how the story was written by going through all of his father's drafts.
