I've been completely enveloped in NCAA '09's Campus Legend. I really enjoy the first-person aspect but with sports instead of killing zombies of something of the sort. Fun stuff.

I also was reading an interview with Matt Cassel and found a funny quote.

Madden 09: Matt Cassel Interview - Videogames - ESPN

ESPN: What's funny is that when you took over the team, we actually simulated the Patriots season with you as the quarterback in Madden, and the game predicted the team would finish 11-5 just like you did in real life.

Matt Cassel: This game gets more realistic every year. Pretty soon they'll find a way where you can even feel the hits.

ESPN: The day they make me feel a Ray Lewis hit is the day I retire from gaming. I'll leave that one up to you.

Matt Cassel: Good thing I'm faster in real life than I am in the game.

I can't imagine feeling a Ray Lewis hit as a WR coming across the middle from my recliner.

I can see it now, you get hit by Ray in your recliner, you wake up minutes later to find your seat is in shambles, and you ask yourself if it's time to hang up the pads. Next thing you know, you'll learn to use the X (dive button) quite wisely.

If I did happen to wake up, I'm giving up the sticks at that point. Maybe go back to playing Pac-Man or something.

I downloaded the Resident Evil 5 demo... it fucking sucks.

I hate the controls, and I hate that bullshit over-the-shoulder 3rd-person view (which, I think, is used in Gears). The graphics in the game look great, but the gameplay just feels slow or something.

FPS FTW! :p

COD World at War, excellent SP gameplay (I don't care for the frenzy fire style of CoD MP gaming). They did an excellent job capturing the terror of enemies attacking from all sides. A truly terrifying game would involve only the footsteps in the grass, but that would be too difficult to sell. THe flamethrower adds a lot to the gameplay as well.

Agreed. I got the demo earlier this week and wasn't very happy. It was a major letdown because I was so high on this game since its pub was ramped up back in Sept/Oct of last year.

Capcom has turned RE into an over-the-shoulder shooter, but has not overhauled the controls meaning you still can't move-and-shoot. Also, the camera is way too close to the character, blocking a lot of your vision and making it impossible to see what it coming in behind you.

Sheva is completely incompetent since you must give her orders in SP to get her to do anything, much less get out of your line of fire. If she dies, your game is over, which means you wind up spending most of your time babysitting her and healing her.

The enemy AI was just as awful. The zombies run as they approach you and then slow up and walk as they close the remaining distance. Just dumb.

Probably would be a better game as true co-op, but I'm not wasting my time with the clunky controls. Capcom should not have even released a demo, because they just lost my $60.

Mass Effect, it's fairly criminal that I didn't get to this game until a few weeks ago, especially with how great KOTOR was. I'd love to play this game on computer where the graphics are not dumbed down for the console hardware.

Anyone here played the new LOTR game? I don't plan on buying it, but I'm curious if it's worth a rental. Even if it is buggy, some of the movie moments look like they'd be fun.

This is a movie that you can play. It's excellent. Only complaint is some repetition (you'll see what I mean). But, aside from that, nearly flawless.

I downloaded the Halo Wars demo (for some reason) yesterday. It is absolutely horrible. I played for about 5 mins, turned it off, and deleted it from my HD. 0/2 on the 2009 game demos so far.
I was curious about that. I had my suspicions that Microsoft went to Ensemble Studios and said,

"Hey, we need you to make a Halo-themed Age of Empires for the 360. Bungie is busy with other projects so we need you, and we need a demo for it done on the same day Sony releases their Killzone 2 demo, and we need the complete game done and ready to ship the same weekend Killzone 2 ships. We don't care if it's even any good, it just has to say 'Halo' on the box somewhere.

Oh, by the way, when you guys are done, we're laying you all off and closing your studio. kthxbye!"

That is pretty much what they did. I hate Halo to begin with, so moving it to a tactical game with little RV looking cars was just overkill for my disdain. Perhaps others will like it, but I'd rather pull out my teeth.
