What are you doing while on Shelter-In-Place/Lockdown?

Now that the gout is gone and I'm off painkillers, I actually had to work and waded through a regression analysis done by a couple of our so called "quant-kids" on every company we're invested in: who's in danger of not making it, who's strong, who should get propped up with additional funding, who should be allowed to die.....all with multiple data points and variables based on what's happening to one company relative to the effects on the other companies in the portfolio.

Fucking geeks. Don't these people understand that I'm a "big picture guy" not a numbers guy!

Interesting. Did they include any of the COVID19 related data in their models? Working on something now that includes parameters for COVID19 related statistics so that the predictions are dynamic relative to that data. This will allow us to dynamically forecast demand and adjust marketing / advertising investment relative to those things we always have included in our models... but now the models also are ‘COVID19 aware.’

If you’re interested / looking for that kind of data, you have to be careful what you use. For instance, the JH data cannot be licensed for business purposes... but there are other sources that have less restrictive licensing. Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll tell you where we got the data.

Thanks. We're not delving into anything directly COVID specific (death of key personnel, COVID related expenses etc), only the macroeconomic effects of the virus on the relative economies (national and international economic slowdown--various models on relative GDP slowdowns, trade and business travel slowdowns) as related to the companies' relative financial health and prospects (these are largely start-ups in the Great Lakes and Europe) and ROI potential. The business travel lock down turned out to be rather serious in the case of a German green energy start-up with significant research partnerships with two US universities. That company is a long shot, but if it threads the needle, I'll be wearing an Omega on both fucking wrists! Other things are more stable such as a Spanish food and wine group (my entree into being invited to join the firm) that has significant land holdings. They might slow down, but they're really not going anywhere unless there's a severe global depression.

Now if you have some unique modeling on COVID effects on economic slowdowns, and disruptions to trade and business travel, I'd love to take a look at it pass it on to someone else to take a look at and then summarize for me.

Got out and walked the dog for a couple of miles then I ran a 5K route and lifted a little bit. First time I have run in a couple of weeks due to a planter fasciitis issue. Finally said fuck it were running anyway. Trying out some new Brooks shoes to see if that helps. Also have a new pair of Saucony to try.

Glad to hear it. I don't ever want to have that shit...

Thanks, Mili.

This was the fucking worst because they didn't give me the indomethacine (prescription level anti-inflammatory) because of the COVID. So I got the colchicine to metabolize any purines in my blood but nothing to deal with the actual crystalized shit in my feet. It took 8 days instead of 2 or 3 to clear out. I guess that's why they gave my the hopped up Norco-5 painkiller instead of run of the mill Vicodine.

Gels are actually worse than wearing padded shorts on a normal seat.

Yeah, I mean I let it go because I'm lucky enough never to have a sore butt problem... But if i did, I would find out the right size (which I do know) and get a fizik or brooks (probably this) and break it in. I actually use the stock $50 selle italia that came with my bike because i was going to change it, and I was lazy about it and if turned out to be fine, so why mess with it?

I actually have an aftermarket gel saddle. Still frick’n sucks.

What Thump said. If you haven't yet, get either bike shorts or triathlon shorts. Bike shorts have extra padding but are a bit over-padded and a bit bulky...a good pair of tri shorts aren't bulky and have enough padding to reduce/prevent sores/rash. I wear tri shorts even when doing stationary rides.
