We have Schwinn recumbent exercise bike as well as Bkool indoor trainer that I use with my road bike (
https://www.bkool.com/en). Both are good if you want indoor cycling. The saddle on my road bike is really frick’n hard so I tend to use the recumbent more... and I keep it in my office so it’s easy to jump on while in meetings at work. Check out BKool if you’re looking for videos, races, etc. for part of your experience. Kinda sweet system where the trainer varies resistance relative to the terrain of your ride. Like I said, if my saddle wasn’t so painful, I’d use it more than I do. I could probably throw one of the kid’s mountain bikes on it and it would be more comfortable. That’s one of the good things about a trainer like that... bring your own bike, right? And good news, that bike will work better on the road than a Peloton.
We also have a Precor AMT Elliptical and a Matrix Erg (rower), among other things, in our home gym. If you look around online you’ll likely find some good deals on lightly used equipment. We found a company here in Chicagoland that buys out equipment from gyms that have either folded or are changing over to new. The Precor and Matrix each had less than 20 hours of use on them when we got them... so, basically brand new equipment. We literally paid dime on dollar relative to new.
Truth told, the Precor gets most of my time these days. I do need to get more friendly with the Erg though. I find both of those to be a better workout than the bike as the bike is not working core. I think that you only start to get core on a bike when you have to balance and even then I’m not sure how much of a benefit that really is.
I do know people who have Pelotons and love them. I’m not sure if they really love them as much as they love telling people they have them.
Good luck!
