Actually, the real reason why he delayed his decision is to keep this thread going at 100 replies a day so he can break the Taz thread's record.
lol, he did make a comment about coming to the board.

HEY JASON, how does a couple of Heismans sound. It will never happen at USC. You saw Sanchez throwing the ball. That offense is going from 75% passing to 95% passing.
tOSU has the line, the FB, you could be the last piece of the puzzle.

Gost8- saw your list of our runningbacks. However, Gwaltney's a HB, not a FB, so you didn't need to add Dionte Johnson and Brandon Schnittker to the list (and left out FB Stan White Jr!). Also, I see Anderson Russel playing a Ira Guiliford role, playing safety first and foremost, while being an emergency-use RB if we need him (means that he won't play if we land another RB in this class). He'd be competing with Haw, Pittman, & Wells, and NONE of them have the runningback position pegged for next year. If he can perform like he did in the AA game on the field in front of 105,000 during the fall, I believe he could be the guy to beat for the job.

Ohio State seems like the ideal place for him! We have been a run-first team since Woody coached "3 yards and a cloud of dust", where as USC is a throw first team, even with a gamer like Bush in their backfield. Our bread and butter is the Power-I, which is what JG prefers. If he wants 20+ carries a game, he WILL get it at OSU, whether he likes it or not. If he wants to play right away, OSU doesn't have a proven starter, where as you're sitting the bench at USC, having to depend on not ONE player leaving early after this coming year, but TWO. Haven't even mentioned the location being 1,000+ miles closer to Long Island than L.A. yet! Or the fact that we put players in record numbers in the NFL (14 last year). Or the fact that we're on national tv EVERY week. Or the fact that OSU has had 7 heisman trophys go to our runningbacks.

Jason, YOU are the cog that we have been missing since Clarett left. And you fit just perfectly in this Ohio State machine

I edited out a lot of runningbacks from both rosters and I put icons next to the ones that JG would likely have to beat for the starting role. I wouldn't leave Dionte off the HB list quite yet. Brandon Joe was a FB until he showed he could move the ball.

Love that sig too buckfromscum

It looks like we are being played again! He tells OSU and WVU what they want to here, and is straight with USC.

Ex..On OSU and WVU updates, he says distance is a factor, playing time is a factor, and the allegations don't bother him. On USC updates, he says he's will to wait to start as a sophomore, distance isn't a factor, and the allegations against OSU bother him.. OSU and WVU are being played! JMO
Well if he really wanted to play all ends against the middle at this point who's to stop him? Sounds like he may be having a little fun at several groups expense.

"Course if JG is playing 'em all a more strategic move would be to toy with the suitors and then declare for a 4th option as yet unknown.

This is my contribution to breaking the 100 post per day limit on JG.

Per another board Lemming was on 610 discussing Gwaltney and says it is a family battle. Gwaltney likes USC and his Dad and Uncle favor OSU. This would explain a lot.
If this is the case, I don't have a lot of confidence. Although family weighs heavily, if his heart is at USC and that is where he truly wants to go, it could easily win out in the end and convince family to let him be his own man, so to speak.

Yeah, definetly got what you were saying about who he'd be going up against, putting the icons next to them. And you're right. Another guy he'd be going up against from USC would be Washington. From what I remember, he was hurt this year, but has played since he was a true freshman. Someone else to watch out for after Dennis, Bush, & White are gone.

I edited out a lot of runningbacks from both rosters and I put icons next to the ones that JG would likely have to beat for the starting role. I wouldn't leave Dionte off the HB list quite yet. Brandon Joe was a FB until he showed he could move the ball.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Dionte was a FB/LB coming out of high school. Brandon Joe was a highly ranked RB coming out of Westerville South HS (my alma mater, coincidenally). Dionte will never play HB (like BJ did), but he will get carries as a FB

Dionte may get a couple, but not nearly the love that Joe saw this year. We didn't have an effective big runner besides Joe (Ross was a no show until OkState revolutionized his ability ) If Gwaltney can be as dominant with his speed, vision, and size, I doubt Dionte will see the ball much at all. Plus, Dionte LOVES to truck people. He'll only get glory carries or surprise carries to catch the defense napping.

Mods if I can donate every single one of gems to this man for this fantastic quote please let me. BRILLANT! Simply, BRILLIANT

"I have been gone for 5 days. After reading this thread the one thing I can say with out a shadow of a doubt, is that no one has any idea what the heck they are talking about. Very entertaining though! :wink2:"

Really, I see no reason for Jason to postpone his announcement until Feb. 1st IF he was already solid with USC. The fact that he postponed it for two weeks suggests to me that, either:

1) He will end up at OSU, but is waiting it out to make sure nothing happens with the NCAA between now and LOID (it won't).

or

2) He and his family are still having disagreements over where he should commit, i.e. he wants to go to USC while his family wants to see him at OSU. In that case, either Pete will convince the family that Jason will be fine across the country and will have to wait his turn, or Coach Tressel will convince Jason that he has a great shot at being the feature back immediately at OSU.

Either way, while I'm not very optimistic that he'll end up at OSU, the postponement is definitely encouraging.
