Welcome: Irish Fans (Merged)

:so: How is that a spin, Bill O'Reilly? 70% of a yard is just over 2 feet, which, on a football field, is not that great of a length.

On one play, if it's first or second down anyway, 2 feet is no big deal.

When you're talking about YPC over the course of an entire season, 2 yards is a big difference. It's really not even a matter of opinion. It is a big difference.

When ranking running-backs by YPC:
  • Antonio Pittman is ranked 43rd nationally
  • Darius Walker is ranked 71st nationally
That is a big difference.

Guys guys guys... come on...

Is this even worth aruguing about?

Pittman is by far the better running back. Just because ND had a guy that could start for any MAC school dosn't mean he's even close to what kind of a runner Pittman is and will be.

Who in the freaking world did ND play? Who? No really, who?

If pittman ran against those teams he would have 2000 yards.

Big P is going to be force in 2006 that won't be able to be ignored w/ some heisman votes.

we took number 1 all the way to the end
...and we took #2 all the way to the end.

You also lost to unranked MSU (and gave up 44 points) and Stanford took you to the end where you again gave up 30+.

What does this mean in the grand scheme? Nothing...Just like you taking USC, in a storied rivalry game and a game Weis obviously keyed as a statement for the program, to the end means absolutely nothing.

ND will show up to play...so will the Buckeyes. Nothing that has already happend will matter at all.

sorry we could not schedule such powerhouses as Indiana and S.d. state
Do you really want to play the schedule game? Really...think that one over before you look foolish.

as stated before when N.D. played Michigan State they were unbeaten. and No I don't want to play the schedule scheme but N.D. played ranked opponents, where they ended up at the end of the year doesn't matter. N.D. started out 44th and ended up 5th. Nobody in college football saw that coming. S rry that one of the biggest stories this year is the rise of the Irish.

Why wouldn't it matter? If that is the case, why even play the games? Why not simply crown the champion according to pre-season polls?

Of course the results matter. I understand the point you are trying to make, but I'm not buying it.

S rry that one of the biggest stories this year is the rise of the Irish.
and where has anyone denied that? How is that even relevant?

Wow, you jumped from 44 to 20 based on your win over impressive Pitt (they were undefeated at the time), then another jump after beating a really really good Michigan team (which was undefeated at the time). I'm really glad the pollsters didn't adjust your poll ranking after finding out these teams suck. Good for you!

those were pre-season rankings given before the games were even played. Do you really think those rankings mean more then the ones after the games are played?

edit: no need to get personal--21

no, everybody plays weak teams. but I think N.D. played a good schedule and against good opponents such as Michigan, Michigan State and Purdue. Right there is three teams from the big ten. Through in Pittsburgh and Tennesse as well as USC. Those are all teams that pose a threat whether they are doing good or not. All have coaches and players that can change the flow of a game. I know we could do better than Navy but that is a old rivalry that will never go away and it did feel good to kick the hell out of willingham.
