Welcome: Irish Fans (Merged)

I didn't watch the game vs byu (not very interesting to me), so I wouldn't know. you will rarely see an 8 man blitz from osu. our D is able to generate a lot of pressure with 5-6 guys on passing plays.

Notre Dame and OSU has played some teams that have become very disappointing. As I look back at that absurd Athlon Sports College Football preview, I see ALL KINDS of teams that fell short. Pitt, Iowa, UofM, OK, etc. People who talk about SOS are the ones who make themselves feel better about a team that got away, or almost got away. I'm a firm believer in the SOR factor! SOR? Strength of Rivalry. Anybody can go through a schedule playing temple on season, then Tulane the next, and maybe throw in a Rice game. But, and I won't use OSU's schedule because I can't "feel" it like you OSU fans do, so I'll use ND's. ND plays UofM, USC, MSU and such on a regular basis. These are rivals that date for over 100 years. These are GREAT GAMES no matter who's ranked. I'm sure you agree, you're there too. An unranked ND team will ruffle the feathers of a top ranked Mich team and vice-versa. MSU plays damn well at ND stadium, why? Because it's a rival game! No matter how each team is ranked, the teams play their butts off. The recent level of play by ND under Ty was not there. Is it now? Of course. Tradition has been found and rivals are targeted. So all the media and Oregon fans can say all they want about NDs schedule. I also get tired of hearing how morons call ND out on the Stanford game. Who friggin' cares if Stanford took the game to the end. Hell, they had bulldozers ready to plow down the stadium seconds after the game. It was the last game in that stadium and the wrecking crew had their headlights on and ready. The crowd was there and stanford was playing for a bowl game scenario! Who in the hell in their right mind wouldn't expect lowly stanford to try and play a hell of a game?! The true testament wasn't how great stanford was anyway. The fact that several points and opportunities were spoiled because of an injury to the one man kicking crew, aka DJ Fitzpatrick. THAT! Was the deciding factor. ND should've never let stanford in the game, i'll give anybody that, but! ND never moved up because of the win, either. Didn't the Ducks pull the nearly the same thing off with WSU? Yes! I saw the game with my own eyes. Horribly conservative coaching gave WSU the loss. Not the ducks victory, WSU beat themselves and the coaches deserved to lose that one. OSU's SOR?! Go for it! I'd love to hear your side and I'm sure it's the same thing. The games that nobody cares about the ranking, but who has the rival bragging rights for another year! Beautiful! Simple and great!

Funny, I think the same thing about all of the media and Irish fans hyping ND taking USC "to the end". Who cares? Did you win? Nope, and neither did Stanford. You can't have it both ways...either close losses matter or they don't. I'm of the opinion they don't...either way.

Also, you seem to be of the impression that everyone that ND plays considers them a "throw the records out the window" rival. Fair enough, but I think it's safe to say that teams like Ohio State, who won a NC in 2002, always get the "A" game from their opponents. Every team considers OSU a big game, and a measuring stick...take the Penn State game this year for example. So, I have no idea how that fits into your "SOR" or whatever, but I think it's a safe bet that both the Irish and the Buckeyes always have a bulls-eye on their chest.

lol!

Yeah, let me take a QB who has thrown less TD's and more INT's because his "efficiency" is better? C-mon, man?! How about this! Gimme the QB who threw more TD's with less INT's and let the RBs worry about carrying the ball! WOW! What a friggin' concept!? Running QB's are nothing more than short term stunt-men and usually end up falling off the scene, get hurt or grow up to be real QBs.

I'd take VY every day of the week over Quinn, and I'm very sure I'm not alone in having that opinion amongst people who are neither UT nor ND fans.

I'll be interested to see how N.D. is able to handle a strong pass rush. They haven't faced a defense like OSU's this season. Ohio State has faced offenses that are as strong as ND's though.

Don't tell them that - they'll give you this 25-minute diatribe about Brady this and Samardzha that. Bottom line is they know it to be true but then they throw in the "Weis has a month to prepare" bullshit as if JT doesn't have the same month. I just want to kick their asses and get it over with!:oh: :io:

Can't Wait for Irish And Buckeyes

As a die hard Irish fan, I could never understand why we don't play the Buckeyes more often. The Bucks have such a rich tradition and are close enough geographically to really get the local juices going.

I expect a hard fought game with the high potential that the Buckeyes defense could wear the Irish down. However, If the Irish take an early lead from a bounce here, there, or a slip on the field-it could get very interesting.
I don't hear this discussed much, but don't you think the layoff between the season and bowls dilutes the competitive edge?..Will the Irish and Buckeyes be the same teams as say, November 15th? We always hear how the SuperBowl teams hate the 2 weeks off. The college guys have at least twice that.
In any event..Go Irish! Give 'em a hell of a game.
