What's with Burger King and their weird ad campaigns?
The latest is a Robo-King serving breakfast to a frightened future customer in bed.
Surely, they can't believe these are "good" ads?
Seems like they think these ads are "edgy"?
I think them just plain, old, very strange.

a lot like his past "It's good to know that Burger King's kingly mascot plans on bothering people deep into the current century and possibly beyond. A new ad positions the new Cheesy Bacon BK Wrapper as the ?[ame="http://youtube.com/watch?v=jz7uBH-outY"]breakfast of tomorrow[/ame],? which appears to be where the commercial is set. The King has lost his legs and become a flashing, robotic, fast-food Vader, but he retains his fondness for waking up sleeping men and offering them food. The atmosphere gets even more charged when the man?s purple-haired wife hits on the King, saying he?s ?good with his hands.?

BURGER KING may offer a menu full of gut-busters and may nickel and dime farm laborers. But there's one thing you have to give it credit for: it knows its demographic.

Take a look at some items on its menu: BK Stackers, with up to four patties of meat; the Enormous Omelet Sandwich; the Oreo BK Sundae Shake.

Burger King has sponsorships with the National Football League and Nascar and tie-ins with "The Simpsons Movie." It even came up with an Xbox game that sold more than 3.2 million copies last year.

Dude, bring on the Whoppers!

"They hit a core demographic group -- 18-to-24 males -- and give them what they want," said Bob Goldin, an executive vice president of Technomic, a food industry research and consulting firm.

Burger King's laserlike focus on the testosterone crowd has prompted a turnaround that has been easy to miss, given the phenomenal roll McDonald's has been on for the last few years. Indeed, Burger King's rebound isn't nearly as profitable or sustained.

But after years of misdirection and turmoil with its franchisees, Burger King has had some success.

The company has recorded 16 consecutive quarters of growth in same-store sales -- those open at least a year, a common industry measure. And in the last quarter, reported on Jan. 31, Burger King posted a remarkably strong 4.5 percent gain in same-store sales, even as McDonald?s and its other competitors showed recent signs of weakening amid a souring economy.

Burger King?s strong sales were bolstered by a terrific new ad campaign, the "Whopper Freakout," that uses a hidden camera to record customers? reactions when they are served Big Macs or Wendy's burgers instead of a Whopper.

One customer says, "If Burger King doesn't have the Whopper, they might as well change their name to Burger Queen."

Wall Street is impressed.

I'm far from a fast food fan, but Burger King is the worst of the whole lot IMO. The burgers taste like crap, the chicken sandwiches are nasty and the fries are fucking awful. The breakfast sandwiches used to be passable, but the last couple times I've gotten them they were so greasy, I felt like puking after getting half of one down. :sick1:

I've never understood why anybody would eat that shit given a choice. Maybe they should spend a little less on their retarded ads and more on better quality food. Wendy's blows them out of the water.

I actually like their fries when they don't taste like the cardboard they're in. 50/50 chance of that happening. I enjoy their ads, but they don't make me want to go to BK. I hate going to fast food places unless its name is Chipotle.

Hate BK fries personally, just about the worst fast food fries there are, or at least near the top. Personally I like Wendy's fries because I don't have to ask them to make a fresh batch of fries with no salt. With McDonalds and BK I can't eat the standard salted fries, waaaay too much on there.

I do like the BK burgers, but still prefer the fresh taste of the Wendy's burgers. Support an Ohio first chain? :biggrin:

Maybe BK's strategy with their ads is to weird people out and get people talking about them. If so, they have succeeded. The King creeps me out.
