LSU legit might finish under .500.....wonder who the last defending champ to do that was
I don't know if they were the last defending champ to do it, but....

In 1942, Ohio State went 9-1 and won the AP title (the only major title available back then).

In 1943, Ohio State went 3-6, and 1-4 in the Big Ten (including losses to Northwestern, Purdue, and Indiana). WWII had something to do with the Buckeyes loss of talent.

TCU did it 4 years earlier (3-7) after losing some guy named Sammy Baugh to the NFL.

The only team to do it in the last 60 years? The 1967 Michigan State Spartans (3-7), co-champs of '66.

In the Auburn-South Carolina game earlier today, the Aflac trivia question was to name the 5 overall #1 NFL Draft picks for the two schools. They blabbed about it for a long time, then gave the answer as Auburn: Bo Jackson, Aundray Bruce, Cam Newton, and USCe: George Rogers and Jadaveon Clowney. They missed Auburn’s Tucker Frederickson, who was taken first in 1965, ahead of Butkus, Sayers, and Namath. I didn’t watch the whole broadcast, did anybody see if they corrected their mistake?
