Week 6 CFB Open Thread

Meanwhile MSST 71 passes, less than 300 yards, no scores, 6 INTs. Yikes

Can't wait to see Barbie Lawrence get broken in half in the NFL.
Did you see where he got hit in the gut by what looked like a completely legitimate tackle, then stayed there on the ground like he was near death in order to get the targeting call? Then he popped up and played like nothing had happened.

Where have I seen that routine before?

For the record, in this year's UCF-Ga Tech game there was a hit just like Shaun Wade's on Trevor Lawrence that was deemed not to be targeting. They gave an explanation for why it didn't satisfy the three requirements, all of which need to be present, in order to rule targeting. I haven't searched YouTube to see if there's a video of it there but it's worth noting if you want to look it up.

I used to keep a collection of links to videos of various bogus Buckeye ejections so I could post them to game threads when the exact same hits went uncalled. (Like Joey Bosa's in the Fiesta Bowl against ND which was the only thing that kept them in the game.) But I'm just too exhausted by the preposterousness of it all at this point.

What makes it worse is neither was called on the field but by the replay both....:smash:

It's such fucking nonsense that at any time they can stop play and find a targeting call in review. Because we all know that if you look hard enough you'll find one. I support some sort of rule to make sure players are tackling correctly and reducing injury, but it's completely random and will eventually kill the rule.

Also, fuck the refs for treating Lawrence like a barbie doll. Clemson's QB run 6'6 230 and 6'5 250. Basically makes them untacklable because you have to go at them with such force and pray they don't lower their head to get the call. Only option is to go low and take out their legs, which will probably end up hurting one of them. So what's the point?

Wait a second...you can't spike it after you drop it.

He threw it backwards? That would be a fumble and a Hog jumped on it.

They got the wrong headline here.....

Controversial call lifts No. 13 Auburn to 30-28 win over Arkansas SEC Officials Fuck Pigs

Did Bo Nix actually fumble when he spiked the football?

Arkansas fans undoubtedly believe he did. But the officiating crew didn’t and Anders Carlson kicked a game-winning field goal with seven seconds left to give Auburn a 30-28 win over the Razorbacks.

Nix was trying to spike the ball on third down with 28 seconds left and Auburn trailing by one. But he fumbled the snap before he spiked the ball. And when he did, he appeared to spike the ball backwards. Or, at the very least, not forward. Arkansas recovered the ball.

The play was initially called intentional grounding because Nix fumbled the snap. It was reviewed because it was apparent that Nix didn’t throw the ball forward. But, somehow, officials decided that the call of intentional grounding — and a forward pass — should stand and Carlson then came on to kick a 39-yard field goal for the win.

The SEC defended the call Saturday night and said that Arkansas didn’t recover the ball soon enough after the spike.
