Wearing jerseys to games: yes or no?

Should grown men (out of college) wear team jerseys?

  • Why not? It's perfectly normal game attire.

Click on page 101 at the bottom and look what you find. It's almost that time of year, again.

I guess I'm a dork because I usually sport a tOSU jersey for the games. After all, it's a Jack Tatum jersey and he's almost 60, not 18.

I think I've got to resort back to a #2 jersey. I had gotten a #2 Mike Doss when I was younger when he first announced he was going to OSU. I followed him through H.S. since my H.S. plays McKinley. I wore that through the National Championship game but has since been retired since I've had it signed by him.

Very shortly after that I got a #7 for Gamble which then turned into Ginn. I wore that jersey out to Glendale. And we know how that turned out. After the defeat, College Traditions had a Jersey sale, and I got a #33 Laurinaitis with the Glendale patch (Which I REMOVED) for $20. I wore that jersey in '07 and down to New Orleans. We know how that turned out.

I'll be purchasing a #2 jersey before the season starts. Not just for Pryor, but because it's my lucky number, and well read the first paragraph.

And I do wear a jersey every game whether it be I'm in the Shoe or watching it on TV.

I have a few rules I like to follow, personally. I only wear jerseys of retired players or players that have moved on. I also generally tend to wear a throwback of some type. Favorites are my 1918 White Sox jersey and my original 6 blackhawks sweater.

If I somehow manage to stay in good shape for the next 20 years, I think around then is when I'll stop wearing jerseys to games in general. If I do get out of control soon though, I'll just have to get a Dan Hampton jersey...

Jerseys are not "cool" (temperature, not style), so many Gators don't wear one in the Swamp.

Back in the day when we used artificial turf the on-field temp would reach the 120's.....which was good for us when we were the only ones with Gatorade.

I got a #5 on sale at long's (like $15) after Michael Wiley graduated in '99, and bought a white #7 when the new jerseys came out. I wear it to the bar and games... but will probably rock my beanie T some games this year
