I'm going to rage if Stanford gets in over osu... that'd mean a 5th loss for USC.

Want in to the playoffs? Don't lose twice.

I think (you?) nailed it when it was said that if conference championships (no matter the opposition) matter more than your win-loss record, than why isn't a 6 team playoff consisting of all P5 conference champs and then an at large?

There is also a possibility that one loss Iowa team is rated higher than a one loss tOSU team.

That might be a possibility somewhere ...

I'm not sure what all the fuss is still about. The talking heads have already blatantly stated on national television that the Buckeyes will be there if UNC wins. That is all we need to happen. If Bama/Stanford lose it's just extra frosting on a cake that has already been iced. If Clemson goes down, we are taking their spot. Mark it down.

A two loss team is not jumping in over the Bucks. Will not happen. Especially one with a fan base that Ohio State dwarfs.

With all the talk of Clemson losing they'll now have more than enough motivation to come out and go off tomorrow. I think all the speculation will be moot as ultimately everyone that's supposed to win will win.

I suspect that will be the case as well. If so, I'd like the Rose Bowl or Notre Dame in the Fiesta.

Whole system is broken with 4 teams. Very short sited creating a 4 team "playoff". Hate to say it, but don't see Buckeyes in it.

If we truly have 5 "power" conferences then make it 8 teams - the 5 conference champs and 3 at-large teams. The committee pick 4 now, then they'd only pick 3 and no conference champ gets left out based on "the eye test" aka the feels.

OSO vs Stanford in the Rose.

I don't think it has anything to do with sports message board talk but yeah, both teams that we need to lose are favored so it's not a big stretch to think they will both win.

I did the math in one of these threads, call it 40% chance we get 1 upset out of the 2 games we need.

That doesn't account for real outlier stuff like UNC beating the piss out of Clemson or anything like that.

It hasn't been just message board stuff though that's just the thing. ESPN has been hyping it up all week because it's Clemson losing that will cause the most drama. Obviously ESPN hates status quo type of scenario's and as such they've been going off all week with the possibilities that Clemson loses, and IMO it'll be enough to give Clemson all the motivation that they need.

I think the real percentage (chance of stanford/UNC jumping and clemson/Bama staying ahead with a loss) brings that percentage to somewhere in the 10-20% range. But hey, I'll take a 10-20% chance of getting in.

to each their own

I think the chance of Bama/Clemson staying ahead with a loss is literally zero. Same with UNC.

Stanford goes crazy on USC then maybe

none of that is 30-35%
