This 100%. I think it really is that simple. UNC wound up #10 and will not make that jump. And a two loss team does not jump us. That being said, I would love Bama to be the one that goes down so we can see zero SEC teams make it and two B1G schools in. The south's brains would explode and it would be beautiful to watch.

What really sucks is if Ole Miss doesn't fuck up 4th and 25 versus Arkansas the SEC would probably already be out, although I could see talking heads trying to give a two-loss SEC champ a major push. Regardless, the Gators aren't beating Alabama this weekend. It's UNC and cross your fingers. USC beating Stanford wouldn't hurt either, just in case.

Oh tOSU has a lot to lose if the game is even close, perception wise. It'd be a massacre, and that would also hurt us perception wise, its a lose lose situation. Playing another SEC team or ND would be the best scenario

Going to Pasadena is never a bad option, either. "Rose Bowl!" was the chant at Ohio Stadium for decades.

Touching on a point @jwinslow made in another thread, if this team makes the playoffs I think you see that angry team we saw in AA and last years playoff run.

If they don't and it's just a regular Bowl game, no matter how great it would be to fans, I wouldn't expect to see the fire.
Disagree. Were not Bama and our coach isn't Saban. Urban expects his team with a fire every game!

Doubtful. Alabama would still be sitting there (albeit not in the conference championship) with one loss. Instead of Herbie questioning whether Alabama would stay in front of the LOSER of the SEC championship game (as he did last night w/r/t OSU), you'd hear him--and the other ESPN talking heads--crowing about how Alabama "has to be" in the playoff, because "we all know they're one of the top four teams in the land."

But if Ole Miss would have won that game against Arkansas and been playing for the SEC championship game u don't think Alabama would still be ranked #2 by the CFB playoff committee right now?

he probably expected them to have fire vs MSU too but they didn't.

It wasn't really intended as an excuse making exercise, if they lose they lose. Just an observation that I wouldn't expect the same level of intensity from this current group in a Rose Bowl setting as a CFP setting.

I doubt tOSU ends up in the Rose bowl, no matter how loud the chants. Loser of the B1G CCG is most likely headed to Pasadena. I'd love to see a Fiesta bowl rematch to stomp the Irish again. Or to watch tOSU stomp Florida

They had a lot of fire against scUM...

they did and that was my point, it took a loss to piss them off

I think they stay pissed if they see a chance to "take their title back" kind of thing in the CFP

going to play out the string at the RB or wherever probably brings back the sleepy team we saw all year up to The Game

I personally see a team hitting on all cylinders and wanted to prove themselves in front of the nation that they should've been in the playoff. And also I doubt EzE and the rest of the guys leaving would want to not play their hearts out in their last collegiate games.

All cylinders? It was just one game you guys. We played mad and with nothing to lose. All the pressure was off, all the expectations were off, and sadly we found out we can't just show up and win sometimes. That win last weekend wasn't because we found ourselves offensively it was because we got the "eye of the Tiger" back so to speak.

I agree though if we get put in a Rose Bowl game against Stanford you'll see a team that will say the right things and IMO we still win. Make no mistake though there will be a good bit of disappointment though. However if this team somehow gets in they'll be out for blood and IMO there isn't much anyone else can do in the top 4 (especially MSU if we can hopefully run into them again) to prevent us from reclaiming the title.
