WC - France vs Mexico (Thurs 2:30 ET, ESPN2)

It looks like France needs:

A) someone to win the other game between URU and MEX, because 5 for both advances both

b) to pound the shit out of RSA, because they are working against a serious goal differential.

URU 1-0-1 4 +3 3
MEX 1-0-1 4 +2 3
FRA 0-1-1 1 -2 0
RSA 0-1-1 1 -3 1

A Mex-Uru draw dooms both Fra and Rsa. Either France or RSA would need a loss from one of Uru-Mex and a win with a huge combined goal differential.

Yessssss the under :banger:

Anyone see if this knocks either France or RSA out officially yet?

As they explained on the broadcast, if MEX-URU results in a draw, both advance.

If there is a winner in that match, then the winner of FRA-RSA could sneak into that second spot if they win by 5 or 6 goals.

Let's face it though - France are playing like Americans. They'll be doing good to salvage a goal and look like they're actually trying in their next match.

Here's the Group:

Team.........Pts..Goal-Diff..Goals-scored
Uruguay.......4.......+3.........3
Mexico........4.......+2.........3
France........1.......-2.........0
South Africa..1.......-3.........1

Since Uruguay and Mexico play, if they tie they both get through. If one of those teams loses, they can be caught by the France-RSA winner, and it would then go to goal differential.

But either the France/South Africa winner needs to win by 4 goals (or 3 goals and have Mexico lose by 2 goals (or Uruguay lose by 3 goals)) in order to advance.

Yeah I wasn't able to watch or listen.

France and RSA are both basically dead...will just depend on whether Mexico can beat Uruguay and take 1st, which I doubt.

Uruguay may play 10 behind the ball all game trying to get a 0-0 draw to keep first on GD, so there's really no way they will lose or win by anything big. France will need a Germany/Saudi Arabia-like result to have any chance.

BB can you settle this morning's games too? I need to see what I have available to bet on the Lakers tonight and on us tomorrow.

I've been losing a ton on the overs - I signed on about 10 minutes late this morning so I was too late to bet on those - and of course they both go over. :tongue2:

The low post shot is always there. If the keeper cheats put it in the other corner. Players get way too aggressive with their PKs, it is refreshing to see the simple proven shot.

I also chuckle when I hear the salaries of soccer coaches. Is there a coach in a major team sport with less of an impact on the game?
