Hold on! That thing will bring in 9 out 10 ladies even if I have been married for a long time? Bruh? Who else wants one? I am spending all my tax money on these.

My favorite part by far was the next line... What those 9/10 "ladies" supposedly agree on is that there's nothing cool, masculine, or unique about checking your smart phone for the time.

That is absolutely 100% true.

What it does do though is let me know what time it is.

What I care about when checking the time:
  • the time

Do you get a free slap chop with it?

And a sham wow for cleaning it if it collects dust whilst sitting on top of your tactical mantle.

There's so much comedy gold. I like this sequence:

What Kind Of Man Wears a Watch Like this?
T004.jpg

It’s not for snowflakes. It's for men with a sense of adventure. Guys who have courage, honor and standards. Guys not scared to take a risk in life. Men who don't take crap from anyone. Guys who want to wear a watch that best describes their character…

Confident. Tough. Smart. Insider.
T05.jpg

The SEALION says that you're a person who, though you might spend the majority of the day warming a desk chair… you can still get down and dirty at the drop of a hat.

It’s the type of man other men want to be friends with. The type of man women are attracted to because they feel safe with him. It’s the type of man who young boys dream of growing up to be like. It’s for men who appreciate quality and value. It’s for men too busy ‘doing’ to do much ‘viewing’.

Men who take action.

These are the types of men you’ll find wearing the SEALION. Not because they have to. But because it’s who they are."

The thing should probably be called the RECON "Extenze" or something after all of that.

Say hello to the Who Dares Wins Watch Company.

Who Dares Wins is more than a watch. It’s an attitude and an approach to living life boldly and on ones’ own terms. A WDW man makes the most of his time and demands a stylish and rugged timepiece ready for whatever he throws at it.

For a bite of edge and enigmatic charisma, we recommend the WDW Romance. This premiere timepiece is designed in black stainless steel, with a brushed and polished bezel that piques interest against a matte black dial. Luminescent white infills at the hands and markers offer an easy read in candle lit restaurants and back alley short cuts.

And these aren't just regular automatic watches. Nope. For your one grand, you're getting a SUPERautomatic that's Professional Caliber!.

But does it come with a tactical mantle? Honestly, based on the specs it's not a bad watch for $300 or so. I did like this copy for the "carpe noctem" model: "Every man has a dark side kept in balance by the light."

Not a bad watch for $500. Ridiculous for a thousand though. Plus, you can get the same Myota movement in a French made Baltic for 700. Much cooler retro styling without being derivative too.

There's also something like this that's Swiss made with a very solid Swiss automatic movement for $450ish at current exchange rates. If it was 42-45 mm instead of 38 mm, I'd probably be all over it: https://www.maenwatches.com/pages/hudson-automatic-collection

Does anyone still purchase Rolexes anymore? Still have my steel and gold that I purchased in 1985 at Corrigan's in Dallas. Keeps the worst time of anything I've ever owned, but wouldn't trade it for anything.

There's been a huge bubble for Rolex tool watches (Subs, GMTs, even Air Kings and in particular Daytonas) for a couple of years. A new Pepsi GMT sells for twice retail on the grey market, and if you want to buy one at retail from an AD, you better have spent a whole lot of money there in the past. Nobody's quite sure what's driving it, though there's a lot of speculation that Rolex is manipulating supply to eventually price themselves up a tier and closer to Patek.

The whole thing is absurd. Rolex are great watches (and best in the world at marketing and branding), but they're no better (and arguably inferior) to an Omega or IWC. And clearly nowhere near the watch that something like a Jaeger-LeCoultre is, much less a Patek.
