Washington Huskies (official thread)

Washington RB Dillon Johnson (knee, foot) 'ready to rock and roll'

Star Washington tailback Dillon Johnson has been limited in practice this week after suffering multiple injuries at the end of the Allstate Sugar Bowl, but he said he is "ready to rock and roll" for Monday night's College Football Playoff National Championship game against Michigan.

Johnson acknowledged he will not be 100 percent for the game -- "doubt it" -- and said he has been dealing with multiple injuries. In the final minute of the Sugar Bowl, Texas defensive lineman Alfred Collins dragged him to the ground, and Johnson both bruised his left knee and aggravated a lingering right foot injury.

"But it's all good," Johnson said. "I'll be ready to rock and roll and give whatever my team needs. I'll be ready to do it."

Living in the Pacific Northwest I've seen WA play quite a bit. Johnson is one of the most underrated RBs in the nation. It's a bummer that he won't be 100% for the game but he has pretty much been injured most of the year IIRC.

"He was trying to fight through it, man." running back Dillon Johnson said, implying Penix had a rib injury throughout the season via The Seattle Times. "He's a warrior. You know, stuff just wasn't going our way tonight."

"Better than I was three years ago," Penix said of how he feels physically after the game. "I'm just happy that I was able to finish it with the guys. I knew that I didn't want them to take me out of that game because I've been through it too much. And I knew that no matter what, I was going to make sure I finished for the guys. And just give it my all. I'm not healthy, but I'll be there."

"I hope Husky Nation just always holds him in the highest regard," DeBoer said of Penix. "I think they will. I expect nothing less than that because I think they understand also what he's given all of us."
