Ahh - a little testy after their Duke loss

You would think actually playing up in their tourney would thicken the skin of any fan of a team doing piss-poorly all the rest of the season.

But this is Wake of which we speak. A fan-base whose skin is delicate and thin like veneer ...

Consider this response from a WF alum to their Duke game thread. LINK
which came after he was bold enough to state his opinion that WFU was ill-deserving even of an NIT bid.
This team does not deserve an NIT bid. Yes, they had two nice wins in the ACC Tournament, but that does not override the fact that they entered the season ranked in the top twenty, with four seniors, and proceeded to go 3-13 in the conference.

If you really think a team that goes 3-13 in the confernece deserves a post-season bid, I'm at a loss to communicate with you, so I will leave you so that you can wallow together.

By the way, though, I AM a WFU graduate, Class of '68. Spent one year in Kitchin & three years in 204 Davis. Also, I was a double scholarship sponsor from the mid-70s until Carl Tacy was run off by Gene Hooks.

Facts are facts, though, and I am right ab out this one.

Good bye.

No, you're not right. This team is playing inspired basketball these days and is clearly among the best 100 teams in the country right now.

Everyone else seems to admire the heart the guys have played with lately and the effort they put forward in beating NCSU 2x and FSU, and falling short against Duke. Maybe you need to go take a nap.

[FONT=verdana, arial, sans serif] 7. Wake Forest – Wake not in the NCAA Tournament? That’s blasphemous, but true. The Deacons, a preseason Top 25 team with a pair of Wooden Award candidates, slogged through one of their worst seasons in years, finishing 5-14 in league play and needing a couple of ACC tourney upsets last week just to qualify for the NIT. Wake Forest was once again plucky on Saturdays, upsetting Clemson and North Carolina State and scaring the bejeezus out of Florida State and Boston College on the road, but three straight seven-loss, bowl-free seasons are beginning to become a little too common around Winston-Salem.
