Visors and Socks are naughty

I actually think that visor use should be more wide spread. Not necessarily for glare problems, but for eye protection. Goggles look ridiculous, and a simple eye poke could ruin someone's career, or more importantly, at the H.S. and lower levels it could seriously injure someone's ability to read in class, and ultimately affect their chances of future success.

At my school it is wide spread, about 2 out of every 5 guys wear one. The only problem is like only two guys on the whole team have clear one's. Everyone else has one's that are either tinted or yellow colored. Tinted and colored one's are a no-no in Ohio. At about the 4th. game this season the refs told our players they had to take them off if they weren't clear. Which i understand is the rule, but come on they weren't saying anything the first 3 games of the season.

The biggest problem with the tinted visor was our star LB Jeff Owens was named All-City as a LB, averaging over 15 tackles a game and had one with 20. He was told to take it off the forth game, he did. But next week he had it back on. We told him, take it off before the game, we can't be trying to take it off during the game. We already had problems with his helmet, he actualy broke 3 facemasks and went thru 2 helmets thru the season. After the Linden Mckinley game he got on the bus with the #5 on the front of his jersey.....We don't have a #5, it was a #45 before the game and a #5 after. So you can see why we need him on the field at all times.

Every single game he didn't listen to keeping the visor off, and of course was told to take it off during the game.

To my surprise I was able to follow TG05's entire post. The kid plays hard, and is out there tearing it up. Hence, all the broken face masks, and torn up jerseys.

I was just pointing out all the stuff he does and why we can't be pulling a tinted visor off when we need him on the field. But i must admit, the kid is a beast, saw him in the weight room bench pressing 345 lbs with ease. He is also one mean motherfucker too. We were at practice one day and some O(idiot/stupid "wanted-to-lose-his-life-kid") was out by the b-ball courts in the parking lot near the practice field STANDING on the hood of his car. He saw that and started running over there and it took about 4 coaches to keep him from beating the crap out of the kid.

They don't allow mirrored visors anymore because medical staffs couldn't see players eyes if they were worried about head injuries. I'm in favor of banning visors as a whole, especially now that they have the Nike sunglasses contacts.

if they could (and im sure its deffinitely more than possible) make the dark visors, and mirrored ones, easily removable, im sure that would eliminate alot of questions about what happens during head/neck injuries. Like if a trainer needed to go over to a player with a head injury, im sure that the visor could be hooked on with some sort of switch or way to remove it without moving the player significantly and doing it pretty quickly.

About 90%-95% of the visors you see out there are Oakley Brand Visors(Ohio State and just about every other college wears/uses them). They're held on by two clips that connect to the middle of the facemask, it takes a good 5 mins to get the screws off of it. Now i know some of the players on our team had ones that were tied on by cable ties. That could be an alternative because all it would take is about 6-8 snips and less than 30 seconds to cut them off.(Depending on how many cable ties there is)

So my answer is...Cable Ties.

It is a michigan high school rule that visors must be 100% clear. I thought it was the same in the NCAA. I know for a fact tho that all gloves in the NCAA must be gray. If youve never noticed, look at every picture and they all have gloves with diffrent shades of gray.

I've never knew the grey glove rule, at Ohio State i just thought it was because of our team color.

BTW it is also a Ohio High School Athletic Association rule that all visor must be 100% transparent.

Some states the rule is you must have a prescription for one, although i have looked for prescription visors, i can't find one. Anyone know of a company that sells prescription visors for football, last year when i was playing I couldn't see shit without my glasses, everything was blurry.
