A lot of Buckeye fans here respect LSU, and look forward to a terrific title game. Win or lose, we hope BP.com will have a few quality Tigers who stick around and contribute to our forums, the way USC, Florida, Texas, and other fans have done after our past meetings. LSU, like us, is a program that resides near the top of the polls every year, and we value having the perspective of some of their fans around.
If you're here to discuss, that's great. No one will ask you to tone down your pride in what LSU accomplished this year, and where they're going (assuming 8pm brings what it should). No one will ask you to pretend to believe you're going to lose. I know, you saw 41-14 and you think that single game is more representative than the 27 or so that bookended it, even though you also saw the "slow, thick-ankled" Buckeyes match "the fastest team ever" when we won our title in 2002. Despite the fact that no one team has stepped forward as a dominant force this year, including (twice over) your Tigers, you feel like this is a gimme win. Fair enough.
The funny thing is that I'm giving you this warning to protect other LSU fans, not this site. Many Ohio State fans felt like LSU got robbed when they kissed the crystal trophy, but the media talked up USC. Many Ohio State fans respect the current level of play coming out of the SEC. These things have an ebb and flow to them, and there is no question 'your' conference is playing great ball. But if trolls, and weak trolls at that, come on here and set a poor tone, it's going to be harder to weed through your fan base and find the people who actually know something about the sport.
So stay and talk, have fun, but don't degrade the conversation, or our image of LSU fans. If you just want to talk smack and get some good smack back, I suggest you find another site.
