Visiting LSU fans: please read

This may sound crazy but speed may not be the biggest factor in this game. I envision a very physical football game. Teams that have had the most success against LSU have lined up and run it down their throat. I anticipate the Buckeyes to follow suit.

No offense. The Gator Nation felt huge indignation at the Big-10 and at Herbie in particular at the insistence that Michigan was #2. That belief that Herbie was pimping for his alma mater made many Gator fans detest tOSU and Michigan and the Big 10 last year. I have to admit, Meyer beat that drum all the way to the title game, and that notion permeated the Gator faithful by osmosis.

As to UT fans, they hate us for ruining most of the 90s and for keeping Peyton from the Heisman. As to LSU, we beat them ten of eleven, and they still have not gotten over that. Basically, Spurrier was the most hated SEC coach (but respected as an innovator that changed the conference) for his six SEC titles and four back to back to back to back.

Winning the MNC opened some old wound for them, just when they thought we'd go away. So pardon me if I am not surprised that LSU and UT fans don't like us. If they ever do, it'll mean that we are losing again.

None of it was that deep of thinking, it was just a reaction to their drunken stupidity. The funny thing is they weren't talking shit to me, it was to LSU fans...and the Gators were of the plus size female variety so all in all it was something out of a Springer show. :wink2:

Very strange indeed. Do the LSU faithful blame Miles or the OC for that?
Did Ole Miss run up the gut too? I saw the box score, not the game.
Please let Jenkins, Gholston, Laurinaitis, Boone & Robiskie know that the ring is a pre-requisite to declaring early.

Sorry, I don't know how to multiquote here. I don't know who makes those running back decisions. I would assume it is the OC. I remember one game where Charles Scott was running lights out. They immediately sat him on the bench for the remainder of the game. Puzzling.

Ole Miss ran a bit but they just have BenJarvus Green Ellis which was their absolute only threat. They also had very little receiver threat so it made it easier to defend green.

The spread offense with a running quarterback gives us fits. You have any of that?

RS Frosh Antonio Henton. Southern speed :p, moved into backup role (and more?) before a questionable police sting - in late Sept - cost him the rest of the season. He did not plead out until Nov 12, thus he was not cleared to play until then. He chose to try and fight the charge, and eventually plead out when his case was not as strong as hoped (was going to be a 'he said / she said' battle).

Boeckman is the clear-cut starter, but there is definitely a chance of a package QB like Perrilloux (perhaps not as often). Ginn had a number of packages designed for him last bowl season, which were never seen.

I usually do it manually. Wrap any text with {quote} {/quote} brackets, except replace the {} with [], to quote that text.

So it's possible that you'll have a 2 quarterback system with 1 mobile quarterback come game time?

I would not say it's likely, but possible. For all the talk about Tressel's conservative nature, he also tends to open things up in the final two (UM*, bowls), as well as unveil new plays breaking tendencies set up all year. The wheel route to MoC vs UM 02, the option pitch to Mo Hall to win UM 02, the fake FG vs Miami... or more recently the Ginn at TE playaction td (after chris entering the game = run all year long). Keep in mind Tressel used Krenzel to carry the rock while Clarett could not.

* - Unless UM's defense is the only threat to score all day

Do you guys think (as a whole) Miles' offense is too "gimmicky"? Fake field goals, Fake punts, going for it almost every 4th down, etc.

Here's my thoughts on Les's offense. I don't think it's Gimmicky, I just think he takes a lot of chances he doesn't need to take. Exciting to watch though.

gimmicky? no

I think its been done to much so in reality, it may come back to bite him in the ass. On the other hand, it was quite obvious in the LSU/Ark game, that whenever the Tigers lined up for the field goal the Hogs were more than happy not to bring all the heat.

Take a huge load of pressure off the kicker...

Too risky is probably a better word. Some gambles are okay, but he seems inclined to go 'all in' with alarming frequency. Nothing bothered me more than the Auburn hail mary. Not only could he have lost the game (if the Auburn DB looked up), but there was an deplorable waste of time pre-snap. Use that 5-10 seconds to run a quick out and pick up 7 more yards, instead of standing around. Then if your hail mary fails, you aren't stuck in the same position with a PK you don't trust from that distance.

His time management seems very questionable, and he has been on an incredible lucky streak with his gambles. How long will that keep up?

I think it really hindered LSU to play Dorsey as much as they did, because they tried to play like they did when he was healthy and couldn't. They should have let him rest and adjusted but never really did, and i never really understood why Pellini didn't. But, if Dorsey is anywhere near close to 100 percent, don't expect to be able to run the ball.

The type of offense that would give a healthy lsu defense problems would be one with a good scrambling quarterback, someone like Troy Smith from last year or Tebow. When we played Va Tech and were healthy, they rushed for 71 yards on 28 carries, with the quarterback Tyrod Taylor rushing 9 times for 44 of those yards. We hadn't gameplanned for him and did nothing specific to stop him however. I was shocked at how well we moved the ball on their D, too. Against florida, I actually think Tebow was the first quarterback to make it to halftime against LSU without getting pulled or knocked out and that was the sixth game. He rushed for 67 yards on 16 carries and was 12 for 26 with 158 yards through the air. Moore rushed 12 times for 79 yards. Even when Kentucky beat us in the seventh game, it was through the air, they only had 125 yards rushing with 41 carries. The game that Dorsey was originally injured in on a cheap chopblock against auburn, they rushed the ball 35 times for 97 yards. Of the qualitiy teams we played pre dorsey injury, only Florida was really able to rush the ball and they had the spread option and Tebow working for them.

I love Hester, but don't take a breather when Charles Scott and Keliend Williams come in because as far as pure talent, they both have oodles more than Hester. I absolutley loves Scott and believe he will be playing on Sundays, but we are from the same home time, so there may be a little homer there. lol

LSU has lost enough this year and been through so many ups and downs with Miles possibly leaving that i don't think the team will be reading any press clippings.

One thing that may help us is being so injured this year and all of the close games we have played. It has given us a lot of experience in those situations. I just hope we don't go 3 overtimes, because we seem to be hexed in that third overtime.
