Video editing software ?

Editing question

Question for those in the know.

What would you recomend for editing digital video? The footage is on a 512 card right from my digital movie camera.

I have a bunch of interviews and race footage that I need to cut up and load onto a website for streaming video.

I would also like to put introduction graphics in front of the interviews with the subjects name and the interview date.

I run XP and could purchase software, but would prefer free-ware.

Thanks in advance.

Premiere is far too pricey for what you are looking for.

I guess a key detail is whether you will be doing this on a regular basis, and how many high end features you will need. Most of the software packages that come with capture cards would probably do the trick.

Otherwise the $50-150 types of video editing software should do the trick.

I am actually going to be doing this a few times a month. The format should not be too terribly complicated. I want it to be similar to what BN does with their interviews and prospect films. A short text intro and then the footage in 45-60 second blurbs.

I thought that quicktime could take a download and then cut it up, save it and export. I am not sure how you would put a text into each cut up segment.

You will run into problems using movie maker, guarantee it.

You could also try one of the Ulead products. They have trial versons you can download from their website. Ulead visual studio is an example. Premier is ideal, but yeah, expensive.

Dude... just go to astalavista.com and get a product registration key for just about any type of software you want... free.

That's how I downloaded Nero 6 Ultra Edition straight from thier website, and like I said... it was all free

Not that I know how to do this. Let's just say I read it somewhere. But if you're familiar at all with MIRC......you can use www.packetnews.com and search for whatever software you want, click on the pack number, which opens MIRC, takes you right to the correct channel, then you simply paste the command in the MIRC window (when you click the pack number, it automatically copies it). Best way to borrow software with registration and whatnot. Of course I dont condone this in anyway, and recommend you only use this information to "test" software, or simply use it to search for items that are shared legally.

Did I say all that outloud?
