Josh,

I saw you activated Facebook for Android...

are your notifications working? I'm not getting any...

First off, make sure you have the new version, then open facebook mobile and hit the menu button. You may need to have the widget running. (Not sure on the widget, I have mine running since I use 7 screens with helix.

I have the notifications turned on....and I have a ringer set. It has not rang once, and I have gotten several messages and whatnot on Facebook. I have no idea what the issue is.

Other question:

I think the default browser is excellent...I used to have a BB and it blows those browsers away. Should I stick with the default browser or are there better ones out there?

I saw someone mentioned Dolphin or something like that in the apps thread....so I was just wondering.

Teddy, Firfox just came out with a "alpha" version of their new android browser. It's called Fennec. It might be buggy since it's nowhere near being finished.

I just came across this browser(Skyfire) on another forum.

Is it possible to turn on auto-correction for certain areas, like the market search bar? It does a tremendous job fixing my typos when typing messages elsewhere, so it would be nice if it also was enabled in the market text box.

p.s. Thanks Teddy! That's provides a nice upgrade in battery life. (Edit: after a longer period of testing, I'm going to have to hedge on this a bit... it helps, but not enough as a trade off).

I'm noticing a battery improvement, though not as big as I originally thought (now that I have a better sample size).

I am not getting my gmail notifications very consistently. I am still getting texts.

Ya...I finished charging my batter last night at 8:30 PM, and right now (22 hours later) I still have 15% left. This is a significant improvement for me.

I don't even know what changing that setting around actually does. I am still getting texts, emails through all of my email accounts, and pretty much everything else I was getting before. Still able to access the market too. My Facebook widget doesn't appear to be updating as regularly, but I don't know if that has anything to do with the settings being changed or not.

I also downloaded that Advanced App. Killer and Battery Snap so I can view more info on my battery life.

For me, the App. Killer and the adjustment of that setting definitely seem to be helping A LOT. Like I said, it doesn't appear that tweaking the setting has changed anything else on my phone (except maybe the Facebook widget)....but I guess I could be wrong.

Just sent myself an email from my Gmail TO my school email address. The school email is through Microsoft Exchange. I don't remember if that's pop or whatever the other email type is (I have no idea what the difference is)....but I have it set up on my phone.

Anyway, it took less than 20 seconds for me to get a notification that the message arrived in my school email account.

Then, I did the same thing only I sent the email from my school account TO my Gmail. It took about 2-3 minutes for me to get the notification for a new Gmail message.

I don't know if this time discrepancy has anything to do with the setting that I changed to help with battery life, or if it's just normal for Gmail to take a little longer.
