Valentine Day Thoughts

I made this for the wife out of red, white and pink paper:

It's draped all over the cabinets in the kitchen and in the bedroom. On top of that I'm making dinner tonight: ravioli (her favorite), brie and a nice salad with some wine, and I'm going to get her favorite chocolate and put it on the seat of her car so she finds it when she leaves work. No card or flowers or jewelry.

I got my wife a tanning package. That's what she wanted, so no flowers/candy/etc.

One of the reasons that I love my wife, she thinks that people who spend money just because it's a holiday are idiots. We said "Happy Valentines Day" to each other this morning and that was the end of it.

That is because you were saving all the other stuff (flowers, candies, gifts) for your date with a teenager later that day, right?

I was sitting on the front porch, waiting for friends to show up and start a basketball game. The old man came out, sat down next to me and lit up a cigarette, took a couple of puffs and said, "I just don't understand women. I get her an anniversary gift and she starts bawling."

I was in 8th grade and highly interested in Penny Bulgaris's tits at the time, but I could see the old man's point of view. It was their 25th anniversary and it was a top of the line Hoover that would make Mom's cleaning easier. I thought she'd be thrilled too.

First time in 3 years I haven't had to buy anything for anyone. I thought it would bother me, then I realized... it's quite nice spending the cash on #1

A card. That's it. And not a Hallmark card (fuck that propaganda machine). We went out for lunch. Later she went to the Maroon 5 concert with her friends and sister. So I got to spend the evening with a buddy watching the OSU game and drinking. Solid VD. I told her this should be the standard for future VD's (never thought I would type that line).
