VA OL Zach Rice (North Carolina Verbal)

I can only imagine (not having experienced it myself), that the attention of all these adults paying them has to inflate their feeling of self-worth a tad. Some may even try to match wits with these journalists, dropping hints without committing to anything. Of course, these journalists will try to connect the dots, formulate a conclusion, all in the interest of writing a column that shows why/how this young man will be going to X college. Enough of the crying of wolf, and he ceases to be taken seriously. Take an official to Colorado to ski, Hawaii for the beaches, LSU for the gumbo, Maryland for the crab cakes, and then commit to tOSU. Easy peasy.

Hopefully the upcoming NFL draft will feature two first/high second round OL choices. That might help his decision making somewhat. Seems the pervasive viewpoint is that he's staying south, but these days who knows. All tOSU can do is take it's best shot, present itself in it's best light, and let the chips fall where they may. The OL has some good talent waiting in the wings, and hopefully Stud can coax some greatness from these young men. tOSU is flying high right now, and hopefully the already commits can build some bridges with Rice. Felling 'part of the family' has become more and more important these days, with the NFL history and degree-worth being important as well. Go Bucks!

And hopefully the 2 VA frosh can help recruit as well.
You also make a good point about the draft, because I can see NPF and Munford being Day 1 or 2 picks. I can also see OSU having a top 5 OL for the next 2yrs as well.

The five Rice posted are Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame, North Carolina and Virginia.

Rice and his mother Mary are both impressed with Ohio State.

“They have an amazing football program,” Mary told Bucknuts when asked about Ohio State. “They have top notch academics as well. They are the top tier. When my son got that offer, I knew he had arrived. We truly respect and honor the offer, no doubt.”

Rice is being recruited by Ohio State offensive line coach Greg Studrawa and Buckeye offensive line grad assistant Kennedy Cook.

“I think he has a good relationship with the coaches,” Mary said.

-Top 5 (and official visits) are Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio State, Bama and Notre Dame. He says he has a good relationship with Stud and they’ve always been in a good position with him.

You can’t always read into these things, but the Ohio State portion was about as generic as you can get. Definitely feels like we’re running closer to the bottom of those five.

-Ohio State June 4th, followed by Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama and Notre Dame.

Not expecting this to amount to much more than a visit, but at least we’re getting one.

I'm in the same boat, I expect Rice to stay south but just get him on campus and hope for the best, his talent justifies the effort.

Well, the ball is in Day and Pantoni's court. Probably need to do a superior job with his recruitment, showing him how he'll develop both as a player and a person. Pretty sure that other schools do the same things, tailored to their strengths, but reading some of the other players interviews, what tOSU offers makes a large impression. Ultimately, it's what the kid wants to make out of these opportunities. Distance and other things will help mold his decision, but all one can do is lead the horse to water, but you can't make them drink. Go Bucks!
