USFL / XFL (merged official thread)

I thought that was kind of what the AAF was trying to do with feeder schools and NFL teams. Am I misunderstanding that piece?
I think so.....and probably the reason was bc it's not possible to completely restrict a roster based on geography. I just figure a team in an area near Bama's campus, where people care more about Alabama than any NFL team, you could root for players you already know. You're already invested in Trent Richardson......you don't care that he sucked in the NFL.

Yeah I think they tried it to a certain extent. You just aren’t going to find as much local flavor on a team like Salt Lake. That, and the pool of players is still national (and even extending to Canada plus really, anywhere) and with only 8 teams, each team was going to have a number of guys from places that aren’t necessarily a geographical fit.

If the XFL allows players who aren’t three years removed from high school to play in the league, they might have a chance. Interest would be there to watch young, potential superstars, rather than a bunch of washed up duds.

Former NFL WR and two-time SB champion Ricky Proehl's kid scores the first TD in the XFL.

This game went off at DC -9.5 but Seattle leads 6-3. No way I'd bet on these first week games. Maybe later in the season.

6-3. You'll probably be able to do whole threads on conversion decisions here. Announcers just claimed that, based on NFL #s, there should be a 50% chance of converting a 1-point try and a 30% chance of converting a 2-point try. If that's true, going for 1 is stupid. (0.5 point EV vs. 0.6 point EV).
