Is the XFL going to find players that the AAF couldn’t? Isn’t that what it’s going to boil down to? I never watched a single game. Why? Because the players were of the large group of football players out there that I don’t give a fuck about. I don’t care to watch players that already flopped out of the NFL or never had a chance for teams that just aren’t good. The NFL is the professional football league in this country and isn’t going to be replaced as long as it exists. Doesn’t matter how fed up people get with it or how much people want to complain about it. That’s professional football. Everything else is minor league. And if it’s not funded and supported by the NFL, it’s not going to make it. It can survive if McMahon wants to keep funneling cash to it but it’s not going to survive from the general public and their wallets. I can’t understand how these people managed to become so rich, being so fucking dumb.
Anyone give a shit about the NBDL? Know why it’s still kicking? The NBA is behind it. And again, people still don’t give a shit.
Minor league baseball survives because of the MLB and the fact that it has players coming up that people are excited to see. It’s not the 12 year journeyman that’s just never going to get called up. That, and minor league baseball is just a better experience not trying to be different or become some kind of alternative to MLB. It works hand in hand with MLB.
The XFL/AAF stands as much a chance, or worse even, as that of women’s professional sports. You either have talent and abilities that people are interested in, and thus, in a professional league, or you are expendable and nobody will miss you when you’re gone, meaning, good luck fighting for Joe Schmoe’s money.
How do you pick a team to root for? Birmingham isn't bringing a bunch of fans or give-a-shits from generic football fan that watches because they like the game not the team. I only watch the NFL when the Bengals are being the Bungles. I don't care about any other team whatsoever so unless C-Bus gets a team the XFL can piss off. And obviously, the AAF would have succeeded if it weren't for that Hackenburg guy.
At that level the players aren’t even who you’d be rooting for. You want better players than the next team, but if your players were good (like, for real good) they wouldn’t be in the AAF/XFL. So you got a bunch of flameouts (T Richardson,) dipshits (Johnny Manziel,) and straight up no talent ass clowns (Hackenberg.) These are guys who were given millions and millions of dollars before the NFL realized that they are shitty pros. Now the AAF thinks I want to help support them some more so they can still make more than my yearly salary? Fucking charity league. So you’ve got a collection of shitty players, all on the same level of no talent-ness. It boils down to who can do better with a bag of shit? You’re just rooting for coaches. Do I go out and buy a Steve Spurrier Orlando Appolos coach’s jersey. Fuck no. Fuck off AAF/XFL.

The AAF said from the get go they weren't trying to "replace" the NFL. They wanted to be a developmental league. Seems the fatal flaw was not actually having an agreement in place to be that before trying start a league. Only Vince knows why TF he's bringing back the XFL.
Minor league baseball does well across the country. They offer future major leaguers in small parks for a fraction of MLB prices. There's an audience for it. I think the biggest obstacle to a similar system ever working under the NFL is the popularity of college football and (in some areas) high school football. Baseball doesn't have that problem. Ohio State baseball isn't packing in 105,000 fans for a game so the Clippers keep plugging along. Football is an entirely different story.
I just don’t have any more football allegiances to hand out. Don’t need any more, either
I wonder if interest would be higher if they had teams in college heavy areas, and only allowed....say, the Birmingham Bozos......to only have former regionally relevant players. Obviously not everybody would be from Bama, but it could essentially be the former Bama players vs a team from Texas, California, Ohio, Carolina.
Yeah. I guess “fill the void” would have been better wording. They wanted to draw fans who still wanted football. Those people want football that the AAF wasn’t going to provide. Good football with good football players. I could start a backyard football league to be a developmental league for the NFL and get just as far as they did.
You may be on to something here. Create a league, we'll put together a squad of BP members, wait a few weeks then declare ourselves champions. It'll be as legit as half of Alabama's "championships".
Only thing left is to come up with a good team name.
