USC Trojans (official thread)

Enjoy Josh quite a bit. He's spot on about SoCal QBs. 12-15 (?) are starting/in wings at many schools, from B10 to SEC. Have always said that if SC would take 25 recruits per year from a ten mile radius from SC campus, they'd be world beaters every year. We all know Alex Grinch, and was very surprised that Riley took him to SC with him. Not certain Oklahoma didn't get the best of that net trade. Personally am looking forward to the inclusion of the four new teams being folded into the B10. We'll see how well they stack up in late fall games in midwest. Go Bucks!

They’ll be fine.

No worse than playing in Washington, Oregon, or Utah during the same time.

I always thought the temperature argument for “warm” teams was hogwash.

Not even that cold here during November as of late.

Thanks Al Gore.

Utah is comparable.
Washington and Oregon - snow is rare. Seattle completely shuts down for so much as 1cm.
Total pandemonium. Took me 4 hours to go 5 miles with a very light dusting, because they lose their minds.

Got it. Anything that comes out of the sky in California, scares folks mightily. Rain makes people slow down, drive more reasonably, not cut in and out, etc. Anywhere with snow (mountains mostly), folk know how to drive (skiers mostly). In the San Joaquin valley, fog is the big bugaboo. People still fly down the freeway, with visibility in the tens of feet, but still pushing 80+ mph. Still, game day in the low 40's will be a bit brisker than the Las Angeles teams are used to....

Jayden Maiava now heading to USC, not Georgia, father says

A day after announcing he would transfer to Georgia, former UNLV quarterback Jayden Maiava flipped his decision and will instead join USC, his father, William Maiava-Pratt, told ESPN on Tuesday night.

Maiava, a redshirt freshman this past season at UNLV, entered the transfer portal on Jan. 2 and was in contact with both Georgia and USC. His father told ESPN on Monday that his son would transfer to Georgia.

However, Maiava will now join the Trojans after coach Lincoln Riley made a final pitch.

Maiava threw for 3,085 yards and 17 touchdowns with 10 interceptions while also rushing for 277 yards and three touchdowns this past season for UNLV. He was a three-star prospect out of high school in Honolulu when he signed with the Rebels.

He has three years of eligibility remaining and is walking into a quarterback room in need of competition as USC looks to replace 2022 Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams.
.
.
.
Maiava will have the opportunity to compete with Moss for the starting job and will provide some stability at the position as the Trojans enter the Big Ten in 2024.
