USC football: College Football Playoff path open for Trojans in 2022 under Lincoln Riley
The USC Trojans swung for the fences in the offseason and struck gold when the school hired Lincoln Riley as the new head coach. Since then, Riley rebuilt an entire roster through the transfer portal and in the future through recruiting. Now, USC is 3-0, ranked No. 7 in the country and the College Football Playoff is a realistic goal in Year 1 under Riley, according to USCFootball.com’s Ryan Abraham. He joined The College Football Daily to explain.
“I didn't think so going into the season, but now just looking at the Pac-12, seeing that Utah has not been perfect … it's a USC team that easily I think could win the Pac-12,” Abraham said. “There are landmines along the way, but they're going to get the benefit of the doubt. People want Texas to be good. Of course, people want USC to be good. They're right there. They're willing to accept a great USC team … We know they've been good before, they can be good again. They're gonna get the benefit of the doubt where maybe Utah or Oregon, if they were 12-1 maybe they wouldn't get the benefit of the doubt.
“Maybe even losing to Utah in Salt Lake City, but then coming back and beating the Utes in that Pac-12 championship game in Vegas, you're 12-1, I mean, things might have to fall their way, but think more often than not, you're gonna be in the College Football Playoff.”

Just sayin': Most people are picking Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, & OU to be in the CFPs. I just think USC has a much easier path (i.e. schedule) than OU to go undefeated and get into the CFPs. Look at the schedule Notre Dame isn't all that good, the only halfway decent opponent on the schedule is Utah (who already got beat by a mediocre Florida team).
