USC QB Mark Sanchez arrested for sexual assault (split and merged)

We have some posters who are very knowledgeable about the law on here:

How easy is it for a female to make this type of accusation? Does she need to provide any type of proof before an arrest is made or does the accusation alone warrant an arrest?

Also, the bond set at $200,000 seems high. Is that based on the charge or does it depend on the judge?

Here is the description for sexual assault and what it means....

Sexual assault is any undesired physical contact of a sexual nature perpetrated against another person. While associated with rape, sexual assault is much broader and the specifics may vary according to social, political or legal definition.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, sexual assault includes "inappropriate touching, vaginal, anal, or oral penetration, sexual intercourse that [one says] no to, rape, attempted rape, [and] child molestation."[1]

apparently it varies. columbus PD would likely arresst you on the spot. however, the fact that he wasn't brought in for questioning, was immediately arrested, got $200k bail, and the police are making comments to the media would make it appear that there is some evidence in the case.

OK, for all you first round draft choices out there.........carry a form with you that you have the woman sign (during the heat of passion pull it out of your jacket), that she is agreeing to consensual sex. (have her sign it!) (hopefully your foreplay is such a high level that it would not require much thought:biggrin: on her part). That way your reputation (and draft standing) will be preserved.

The way the world is now, the pendulum has swung to the woman's side, and an accusation (whether right or wrong) casts aspersions on the male, that once made can never be removed (even if proven false).

With all the 'palimony' lawyers in LA, it seems that this would be a good sideline for some of 'em. :biggrin:

And, as we all well know by now, these run ins are even more amplified when something like the Yahoo story is pending. That is, USC has the larger media's attetion (instead of local and internet junkies like ourselves) now and this kind of thing will be "all over the place" If Booty gets a parking ticket, we'll hear about it.

Good luck Thomps, hopefully you won't have to go thru almost a whole year plus of it.

Oh, and now may be a good time to look in to any serbian players on your Basketball team...

Unlike the Duke LAX accusations, however, I don't buy this one. If he was helping some guys that live next door to him push a car into their parking lot, it seems to me like he was just about home. Did the girl live in the same apartment complex? The only suspicious thing is that he was alone. But just from the initial reports, I'm going to have to pass my initial totally clueless judgement of this as a bogus story made up by the girl.
