USC 44, Arizona State 24 (final)

Methomps, how healthy is USC now?

As healthy as we've been since game one. Our two best players (LT Sam Baker - hip and LB Keith Rivers - high and low ankle injury) are still struggling to stay on the field, but almost everyone else is back. Stafon Johnson is also injured.

Personally I hope we play SC...was in attendace last night and it was my first true run in with their fan base...and I thought ND fans were delusional and arrogant...well I stand corrected....dont get me wrong...they are a very talented football team...Id just like to see our defense go to work on em for a bit to shut em up...Oh and I am now placing SC in my top 5 most hated

1) Michigan
2)Notre Dame
3) U of Arizona
4) Miami
5) USC

Yeah, well, it's pretty typical southern california fans in general, last year people were all about the Chargers, stickers, license plate frames, those annoying window flags etc... This year, they aren't winning so the frame gets put away, replaced with whatever team is hot this year. There's a reason that LA doesn't have a professional football team, there's no bigger group of bandwagon fans than SoCal.

I will admit it's nice being able to get decent Lakers tickets now though :p

My point, they will shut up after a couple bad years. However, this year, the talk is about how much we need a playoff system, ie: USC should be in the championship game every year. Whereas in the past when they have been highly ranked that conversation doesn't take place.

Just like any team/school etc... they have a lot of "true fans" people who have had season tickets for years, and a bunch of drunken bandwagon fans who will jump ship if they start to lose or will sell their tickets if they can make a buck.

One other thing about being a last nights game...I saw at least a dozen buckeye fans there and heard an OH-IO chant on the way out of the stadium from a group of ladies...guess I wasnt the only one trying to get a look at the possible rose bowl competition :oh:

USC bandwagon types(the average fan you will run into) are not all that different from your average fan of DaU. I find myself feeling guilty about wishing for earthquakes and hurricanes after most encounters with each.

I don't really want innocent people to suffer through something like that but the thought it might get a large portion of USC or Miami's fanbase does make me linger on the thought longer than is appropriate. :wink2:

Your top 5 most hated list is similar to mine, only if Miami was replaced with Oklahoma.

My list is:

1. scUM
2. Oklahoma
3. USC
4. Notre Dame
5. Arizona

What do you have against Oklahoma fans? I know two, and both are pretty level-headed and stuck with their team in 2005 when they had four losses.

I have a few reasons:

1. Running up the score against the cakewalk teams in an unsportsmanlike way (79 against North Texas this year, and all those other instances- similar to Houston in the run-and-shoot-era)

2. They have the second most annoying fight song in college football.

3. How they still got to the Sugar Bowl in spite of that huge upset by K-State in 2003.

Yea, I'm curious about the Arizona fan thing too.

My top 5 would be:

1) Domers
2) West Virginia
3) USC (probably the worst bandwagon program. Growing up in Reno, I had numerous fans attach themselves to USC despite being 600 miles and a state away)
4) Texas A&M--went to the Cotton Bowl in '87 and thought I got lost on the way to a neo-Nazi meeting.
5) Posters on any of the in-state MAC message boards. Just take a spin around those boards and soak up the hate/jealousy/bitterness. The only reason that they're not higher is because of their inherent irrelevance.

No Michigan? That's right. I respect all of our Big Ten peers, and most of the Michigan alums that I've known/worked with have been good people. I love the rivalry but can't bring myself to ratchet up the hate towards the institution.
