I hate ND but I have to say they played with guts in the 4th quarter. They could've easily won the game. But they didn't :lol:

Just got back from the game. Hat's off to USC, Barkley torched our horrible defense. It wasn't a blowout, but it was another thriller and I'm proud of the way the boys handled themselves. The stadium was rocking all game, and they never quit fighting.

I guess they were trying to run the same play at the last second that they ran against Purdue. Because of the injury to Parris they swapped Kamara in and he slips, argh. Despite the 3 incompletions there at the goal line it looked like Rudolph had a chance on his pass and Kamara may have had a good chance on his. Tate's slant looked like a bad pass though. It was a heartbreaker, but it was more enjoyable than another 30+ point beat down. What I wouldn't give for a stauncher defense :)

So....can we get the "O" back now?

What I have to say won't go down well with Methomps, but yesterday's game had me, someone who hates Notre Dame, actually hoping (sort of) that Claussen would complete one more pass and they'd at least take USC into overtime. What a bunch of undisciplined, loud mouthed, showboating, cheap shot artists. Taylor Mays should be forced to sit at least the next game and #93 as well. Something like 5 personal fouls called, several more that could have/should have been called and numerous counts of taunting only one of which was called and even then the ref tried to stop the clown before he was forced to throw the flag -- and did Pete say anything, pull a kid over and give him an ass chewing? No.

It's simply uncalled for and it's behavior that has for far too long been a trademark of Trojan football.

Were you actually watching the game?

Mays was in-motion when he the other guy was down, but okay, let's say you call it... I assume you're talking about the hit over the middle? How about the other one, when Mays got called for hitting a guy who was still in-bounds, just on the sideline... still, the guy was in-bounds and was hit out by Mays. Mays was effectively penalized for knocking the guy off the field.

Meanwhile, McKnight had taken FIVE steps out of bounds before being hit by an Irish player, and nothing was called. NOTHING. This is with a ref standing right there, also.

Griffen is an idiot for doing the flex, especially when told to stop, but miraculously Manti Teo was able to flex after his plays and not get called for anything. Tate was able to taunt and pat his biceps in the end zone and nothing was called.

I'm just going to say you clearly weren't watching the game. And just because Carroll didn't punish the guy right there doesn't mean he won't later. Ever think Carroll might not have been looking over there at that exact time and wasn't sure what happened?

Not only watched, watched it twice. It's nothing new. Mays has a history of leading with his helmet and USc has a showboating, cheap shot rep.

You'll also notice he leads with his shoulder, which is totally fine (and what he always does). Maybe it's hard to tell because his head is pretty closely connected to his shoulders.

The phantom "late" hit was at 1:37. Sure, Mays is a beast and launches the guy out of bounds... but he was still in-bounds when he hit him. He also pats the guy on the helmet afterward and makes sure he's okay. WHAT A THUG! Clearly Mays should have let him just keep tearing down the sideline!

3:13 is the part where Mays takes the guys helmet off. Again, you can see that Mays was well in motion by the time he gets there. The player catches the ball with 38 seconds to go, and Mays hits him... with 38 seconds to go! So within the SAME SECOND as the catch. And even with that, Mays didn't really hit the guy, he came up over him and ended up taking his helmet off. Then he gets hit with a "hitting a defenseless player" infraction which is used HOW often? It wasn't even a late hit, and within that single second how was Mays to know he was supposedly "defenseless?"

Then again I guess if you're a WR going against Mays, you are pretty much defenseless all the time, right?

I'm not expecting "breaks." I'm simply expecting fair, consistent play-calling.

McKnight takes a full five steps out of bounds before being hit by an Irish player. Absolutely no call. You guys would be furious if this happened to one of your guys.

Meanwhile, Mays hits a guy while he is still in-bounds and gets called for a late hit.


There's a difference between wanting "breaks" and wanting officials to do their jobs.
