Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

To those who were able to recently witness the glorious destruction of TTUN at the 'Shoe (no no, not jealous, why do you ask?), knowing now that it was Urban's last go, you have a memory that will only twinkle brighter as the years go by.

Enjoy.

Believe me, that thought immediately crossed my mind. That was a great day that I don't think I'll ever forget

Just witnessed the sun rising over the horizon here in Columbus. Yesterday was a bit depressing and disappointing but I think most of us processed this as well as you could. After the Tress exit, the highly taxing offseason and Urban looking miserable this outcome is easier to cope with and rationalize. We all admired Urban’s success in a golden age but may have been getting a bit jaded.

Urban moving on lifts a bit of a cloud frankly over the program and it brings with it a new chapter and some legitimate optimism. I will honestly miss the hell out of Urban and hearing his iconic voice but I’m a Buckeye through thick and thin. I’m very optimistic about the future of the program with Day and the most of th remaining staff. No doubt Day understands what the rivalry means and he’s the quickest and least disruptive transition. Day has a halo period that he has to cease. Crush it on the recruiting trail (meaning hold together and finish a solid class this year) and build an all timer for 2020 which Urbs has seeded for him. That will keep the engine rolling. He needs to put all of his energy regarding staffing into cleaning up the Defensive staff and building a system of trust with Wilson. I have no concerns with the future Off performance but he’s got to sure up our D if we’re going to get our hat in the CFP ring in 2019 or 2020. Ultimately, let’s keep that streak against TTUN rocking!

It’s been a great ride and I thank Urban for the joy and excitement he brought to our fans and all the good he did for so many people in our community. I think he’s a pretty special leader and his legacy is set. And to hell with all the media goons yesterday that we’re praising Urban 4 months after burning him at the stake. Middle finger salute...

I am disgusted by the press stories, trying to make out that Urban Meyer is some kind of criminal. They falsely imply that he is guilty of "recklessly enabling" Zach Smith, who is alleged to have abused his wife, even if the final agreement and her own mother said that he did not. Clearly, their little knickers are in a knot because they wanted to abuse him and Ohio State and that thrill is now gone.

Coach Meyer is a class act. He graduated students, taught racial and gender equality, and promoted real life experiences and values. Nothing these hacks can write will change that.

"...sources say he would consider returning to coaching in a year at a top 5, top 10 school, where the job could well become available. I'm not gonna reveal the school..." Cowherd's talking about N_tre Dame, obviously. I personally don't see how a person could get motivated to come out of retirement for that.

I don't see how a person who retired because of health problems could take another job at that level, period. No matter the prestige of the job.

Thanks for a great ride, coach. Thanks for 7-0, and thanks for putting 62 on The Team Up North your last time leading the Buckeyes in The Game.

Thanks for the Natty in 2014 and the victory over Bama on the way. In the last 12 months, thanks for allowing me to witness in person both a bowl win over USC and the Buckeyes winning a B1G Title in the last contest before announcing your retirement.

Thanks for making excellence in academics and character matter, and thanks for leaving the program in excellent shape. All the best to you and your family as time moves on.

I don’t see why it matters. If Meyer recharges his battery and feels healthy in a year or two and wants another challenge, then he should take it. He did right by us so I wish him success in whatever he does.

Yeah I wouldn’t begrudge Meyer at all for taking another coaching gig if he’s healthy enough. The way OSU threw him under the bus probably accelerated his health issues.

The older you are, the more you can appreciate the two bolded portions...

How do you feel about the '89 to '95 period under Cooper?

Just documenting the evidence that, for the most part, our fans are not ingrate pieces of shit like Florida fans are. From what I've seen @Gatorubet is very much in the minority of Florida fans who appreciate the coach who accomplished more for that program in six years than all of their other coaches combined have done. The majority seem to have nothing but unbridled hate for him.

All that said, I really, really, really, do not ever want to see him coaching at USC.
