IIRC, this occurred in the locker room at the Outback Bowl. This incident and Reggie Germany’s 0.0 GPA were why Cooper was fired.
There was still lingering animosity within the team in 2001 when Tressel took over. Michael Jenkins wrote a story later about how on the flight out to UCLA, which was eight or nine days after 9/11, a bunch of guys on the team we’re arguing amongst each other and being disrespectful to the flight attendants. Upon landing at LAX Tressel asked for a private conference room at the airport. Jenkins mentioned that the golly gee demeanor disappeared and Tress ripped into everyone with a fire and brimstone speech nobody knew yet he had in him.
Jenkins didn’t detail what was said, but concluded his story with, “There was never an issue on any planes after that.”

Technicality. That was on a bus.
I saw Carp tear down a chain link fence with his bare hands at LHS last year when a kid broke his femur so an ambulance could get in. He’s cool in my book.

funny thing is how that 2008 team was supposed to be THE TEAM. kind of like this one. tons of senior studs on defense, beanie wells, a solid receiver corps, alex boone (lol) and co on the line, heisman candidate todd boeckman...USC nuked all that.
thing is that team turned it around and outside of a freshman mistake would have still been playing in the rose bowl, and even then almost upset #3 texas in the fiesta bowl...
if you think about it outside of 2002 and 2014 which were both done largely with the previous coach's players, tressel's and meyer's dream teams have fallen short in often mysterious ways.

That was the team that was going to change things for OSU, a team that had gone to back to back NC games. The team that should have done so was 2010 but they got Bucky'd.
I'd disagree strongly that this team is supposed to be the team. People were excited about Haskins but the defense had some pretty significant holes.
The 2014 team had a ton of early impact guys (signed by Meyer): Barrett, Zeke, Marshall, Price, Elflein, Bosa, Washington, Lee, Bell, Apple, McMillan
Frankly, if the '17 class performed like that 2013 class, we would be having a very different conversation today. Of course, that may have been the greatest OSU recruiting class of all time (or very close).

None of this is a surprise. We've been speculating all of this for a long time. All Ohio State achieved, apparently, is breaking Urban's spirit and putting his health on the skids.

The guy is a great recruiter. The best we’ve ever had. But he’s been a lot of John Cooper since 2014. Losing games we shouldn’t. Getting blown out by Clemson in 2016. Getting blown out by Iowa and Purdue. Wasted chances. His only saving grace from the Cooper comparisons is that he beats Michigan but that has a lot more to do with Michigan’s failures than anything we did. We’ve tried to lose a couple of those Michigan games and the skunkbears just wouldn’t let us. This year looks mighty different for the Game.
Yeah, I know it’s probably an unpopular opinion. I’m not saying Urban should be fired or pushed out. But it wouldn’t be the end of the world if he left. We’d find a good coach whose teams maybe don’t have these inexcusable lapses. And that would be a good thing.

Anyone who thinks the next Ohio State coach will match the accomplishments of Urban Meyer sees the world very differently than me. University needs to get on top of this right now.
