Unexpected Contributor for 08'

Head Coach
I was thinking of next year and who might help our team that maybe didn't do as much last year... My pick is Boom Herron

I saw a picture of him where he's in uniform at the NCG and he looks bigger than I thought! He's got that Mike Hart type of look to him, and with us not getting much help from our back up running backs this year I'd say he could really help us out. IMO, Saine is such a talent, but something he seems to lack is vision. He seems to put his head down and go, which is fine if there's a big hole, but he seemed to struggle when there wasn't an open hole.

Now I don't know how Danny Herron will do for OSU' but comparing Saine's/Herron's High School video I thought Boom showed more capability when it came to being patient and finding holes. I just have a hunch that Boom will give us some production on the ground and scoring us some TD's ever so often. I'm not saying Saine will fall on the depth chart but that Saine will be used more in a slash RB/WR type of role.

I'm not sure Herron will get enough carries to be a huge contributor.

no I dont' expect him to be a huge contributor.. More like 200-400 yards 4 TD's with a 5.8-6 YPC average.

With Beanie, Mo, and B.Saine also there he wont' get much work but I think he will really do well in a limited role. I think MoW will become our designated KR guy and thats how Herron will get some work.

As for defense... maybe a guy like Brian Rolle or Thad Gibson

Both great points... Forgot about them both. With Dane he could be a very welcomed addiction in the slot, but I must say Ballard does sound like a GREAT sleeper pick right now as well. You're right with the way we run the ball the PA or TE drag should really be there next year.

Does anyone see any true freshman contributing on either side of the ball next year?? If we get Pryor he's an obvious, but what about Lamar Thomas or Devier Posey?

Im really excited about Dane and Taurian. Both got early looks from the staff as freshmen and should fit right in for major contributions. Hopefully, DeVier will jump in and provide a few big plays. Defensively, [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Chekwa and Heyward.

I look for some unknown kid from Akron Garfield named Chris Wells to have a monster year.

Seriously, not a real unknown; but I would pick Brian Rolle to emerge from the linebacker pack (replacing Grant) and become a real "impact player".

I hear ya script... Brian Rolle is such a talent with his speed, and most importantly his attitude and tenacity! Does anyone think his size will hold him back though?? I mean shoot he'd kick my ass and all that but they might take a 240-250 Homan over a 215 Rolle?? Not to mention Curtis Terry is back, and man he looks bigger than ever.. Maybe we shoudl just run a 3-5-3 with FIVE linebackers...

I think chris wells will go for 1700, 15-20 TD's...but I do think the most effective back besides Chris will be Danny Herron...don't ask me why I just believe in that kid.

Here's to an unexpected contributor being the overall talent and level of play of the Big Ten and USC. My point being that we need as many super-tough games as possible to give us that never-say-die mentality we have been lacking. Here's also to an unexpected contributor being our coaching staff recognizing their weaknesses and acting upon them! We got the talent, we need attitude, stiff competition, and great, innovative coaching!
Go Bucks!
