Spring Game cancelled

Too many injuries to the O-line and an iffy QB situation. Clayton Richards is playing baseball and Matt Gutierrez isn't healthy enough yet to go through a spring game. Basically they were worried about injuries to Henne and O-lineman that might occur in a spring game.

4-3 formation confirmed

Carr has said publically that hey will be switching to a 4-3 after their woes with the 3-4. The conversion of Woods and Woodley seem to support this plan.

DL
Woods and Woodley are both being moved to the DL (as they should have been long ago due to their DE size). Woodley was a force in the texas game, and was fairly effective around the corner once he moved to DE in The Game. They return a very good DT in Gabe Watson. Their DL should be very good next year.

LB
Woods/Woodley gone from LB. Reid got injured last year and will never play again, and Manning graduated. That means all four starters at LB will not be there. Burgess only saw limited time last year, and when he did in the Texas game his stat sheet looked good with 7 tackles 1 INT and 2 pass def. But him and the rest of the other LBs hands were greased up as they couldn't tackle Young to save their lives. Crable is 6'5" 250 and he's staying at LB this year. Hermann's fired within the year, no question. Fortunately it will be at the end of this year after Smith has a chance to outdo his other UM performance.

CB
Jackson & Shazor are gone, as well as the average Mundy (which speaks to how bad their replacements are). Leon Hall is a sound, but hardly a shut down corner. Morgan Trent has ben converted to CB with his 6'1" size and being the fastest player on the team. All tOSU recruiting experts are drooling for 5'8" Harrison (my mistake, all Michigan fans will remind us that he's 5'8.5" :slappy) to work his way into 2 deep so gonzo can get some experience as a jump ball receiver

Here's some more free links from GBW:

McClintock is returning, and started most of last year.

Mundy is returning to start at free safety. And why do you assume new players will be worse than the people they replace? This is college football; it's basically an entirely new team each year.

I prefer to remind OSU fans of Antoine Winfield.

Manning, Woods, Woodley, Reid were all major starters. Those are the 4 that won't be at LB that I was referring to.

Antoine Winfield was offered by tOSU. There was a good reason Harrison wasn't, especially considering we are in dire need of corners.

You said, "all four starters at LB will not be there," which is incorrect. Woods only started 3 games, and only Reid started more games than McClintock.

Dire need? Youboty, O'Neal, Lyons, the Underwoods (well, at least one), and Ginn if necessary? Wanna trade? :wink2:
I'll never understand all this ridiculous bashing of a kid who's never played a college game. Two teams with top 10 recruiting classes last year and Notre Dame offered him, and I think Florida and Tennessee pursued him as well. I'm rather sick of OSU fans bashing him when one of your best corners ever was shorter than him. The fact is, the kid was a very desired player amongst a group of professional recruiters who took his size into account.

Ok, well let me change the pace for you. He is not a Buckeye because his attitude sucked and he felt slighted that he had to earn the attention of the tOSU staff since he was not their prototype CB.

If he would have come to camp and had a good showing, he would have had his offer regardless of his height. Instead, he chose to play hardball and got burnt...

Take him please...

Lyons is a WR. O'Neal is a true freshman. Ginn will not start at corner (may play nickle/dime in certain circumstances). Youboty is the only lock at corner...the other corner is up in the air.

I'm just disputing that OSU is in "dire need" of corners, that's all. It does seem that's it's a weakness; I was trying to counter the idea that OSU is so bad at corner that they'd have pursued even someone as "bad" as Harrison.

Fine, then bash him for his attitude. Whatever. I'm just sick of the short comments and groundless implications that he'll suck and that OSU is "drooling" at the thought of playing against him. It's never too early for an 18 year old kid to turn his attitude around.

Hmmm fair enough.

However I would also remind you of where you are having this conversation. I don't think I would have much success going to any of the scUM boards and telling them I am sick of the unfair judgments being placed on tOSU because of MoC or ESPN....

Whether you like it or not, Smurfette is now a Wolverine and will face public disdain on this board from a majority of the posters....Sorry but that is the nature of the beast.

I can live with that, and for the most part ignore it. But when a comment like "All tOSU recruiting experts are drooling for 5'8" Harrison" comes from a good, logical poster like BfS, OilerBuck, yourself, etc., I'm going to say something if I can.

I keep my nose out of the Larry Harrison/Masturbating bear type threads (even though that was just hysterical ).

When it comes to TSUN, hate is very logical and all-inclusive. Most to all of us were conditioned to that line of thinking before we could say our first word
