Oh, I definitely agree that it was fair. You actually mentioned all of our D strengths (DL, Hall, possibly Burgess), when most here would gleefully focus on our weaknesses in LB and DB.

Hell, you didn't even mention the loss of the masturbating bear himself, Larry Harrison.

I've seen Harrison play DB several times in HS-he's no Antoine Winfield. If scUM is smart, they will use him as as a scatback on O.

I had always said that he may be used in those situations, but I originally thought it would be only in dire straits circumstances. With Tressel openly talking about him playing on defense, I can see it happening on an occasional, and not in a once-in-a-blue-moon, basis.

Just out of curiosity, is the fact that they're cancelling their spring game big news? Does this happen often to scUM? Or to other teams? Has tOSU ever cancelled their spring game?

Perhaps most importantly, in your opinions, how important is the spring game to players/coaches/cheerleaders/etc?

We cancelled the spring game in 2003. Carr seems to be very willing to cancel it:

This will be the fourth time since 1990 that the final spring practice has been cancelled.

I personally don't take it as big news, but YMMV.

Bob Davie does a great job of discussing the importance of the spring game in this column.

Davie's Football 101 columns are all very good, in my opinion.
