i don't know about that. they didn't start kicking our ass until after the opening kickoff.......and with how many commercials there were during the game it could have taken an hour for that.

Damn it. We owned their ass for 15 seconds. The wheels obviously fell of shortly there after.

personally I don't really care. what happened, happened. As long as truth and justice are served.

I don't understand the point of "rooting" for somebody to be declared innocent. If Ted Ginn is arrested, do I hope the charges are bogus? Sure. DO I hope he gets punished if the charges are true? Of course.
Tibor has a valid point here. I don't want to get into a Second Amendment debate, but as a disclaimer, I'm in favor of the right to carry registered firearms. The bottom line is that, if Wilson was legally carrying a firearm, and was reasonably defending himself (which, I don't think anyone here knows whether either of those is true or false), there is no problem here - at least legally. Team rules might be another matter. If Wilson broke the law, either because the firearm he toted was not legal, or because the situation cannot be reasonably discerned as one of self-defense (which obviously can be a gray area), then he needs to be punished according to the law.

Did this happen on campus? I hadn't read that it did, but if so then I'll give you a reward.

Well, no. But the location of the firing was not my point. Sorry I was not more specific.

Jacksonville.com: College Football: Gators Story: Gun incident worries Meyer 04/08/07

"The university's student conduct code bans students from illegally possessing firearms on campus. The 19-year-old Wilson lives on campus, and he had stored the rifle in his car's trunk.
Meyer said he also bars his players from having guns, regardless of where they live."

That is what I was referring to. The actual firing and confrontation was off campus.

Exactly. Owning a gun is a Second Amendment Right. Being a Gator Football player is not a protected right, and team rules are to be obeyed. Are y'all familiar with the Tookes incident at UF?

GAINESVILLE - Suspended University of Florida offensive lineman Ronnie Wilson will face a pair of misdemeanor charges stemming from an April incident in which he was arrested and accused of firing an AK-47 rifle into the air to scare a man who had followed Wilson in his car after the men fought in a nightclub.

State Attorney Bill Cervone said Thursday that Wilson has been charged with one count of battery and one count of discharging a firearm in public. Gainesville police had recommended Wilson be charged with a felony count of aggravated assault and a count of using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Cervone said an investigation by his office determined Wilson may have been acting in self-defense when he pulled the gun from his trunk in a parking lot, but Cervone said Wilson should not have pulled the trigger.

?Actually firing a round,? Cervone said Thursday, ?goes beyond what Florida law on self-defense allows.?

Uh, so what's the use of having a gun for protection if you can't use it for other than scare tactics or as a ball bat? If someone is coming at me and I have a loaded gun, I'm dropping his ass...

an ak47? or just in general?

In general. Although I'm a supporter of the right to bear arms, I don't think John Q. Citizen should have combat assault weapons...then again, some folks don't think there is much difference between an assault rifle and a 12-guage shotgun.
