The question becomes will UEFA even acknowledge in the coming days that the ball crossed the line and the extra officials may have failed (even though it was bang-bang, split second).

For someone who is and was so dead-set against goal-line technology, Michel Platini, I wouldn't put it past UEFA just not commenting on anything and sitting up in the executive boxes for the rest of the tournament.

Just because I miss some of Ian Holloway's press conferences and Platini is both incompetent and a moron.

An oldie, but goodie.

The fact that they don't use replay for instances like this is just outright foolishness. Too many goals are being called saves, there were several in the past season for various domestic league teams. It's time to implement instant replay for these types of plays, and nothing more.

I want offsides technology. That shit gets called wrong all the time. The non-goal, along with Ukraine's other missed opportunity shouldn't have even been opportunities. In this case, two bad calls(no calls) do make a right.

I'm curious, how on earth would something like that work?

There's really no way to review an offsides unless you never call it, and review it every time. IMO, it would consume too much time.

I don't think botched offsides calls really hinder the match one way or another, as much as non-goal calls do.

Typically when a player scores from an offside position they're ~1 yard behind the defender. That's a shit load less significant to me than the ball clearly crossing the line and not being called a goal.

The rule also states that the attacking player is supposed to get the benefit of the doubt. This rarely happens.

My humble predictions for the rest of the tournament as I missed the bracket:

Portugal over Czech Republic
Germany over Greece
Spain over France
England over Italy

Semis
Spain over Portugal
Germany over England

Final
Germany over Spain

I agree with every single pick, except I think Italy will knock off England. Can't wait for these next few games.... World class soccer at it's best.
