Alan Dzagoev with his second of the game. He turns 22 in a couple weeks so he looks likely to be the next Russian star. 3-1 Russia in the 80th minute. They've looked great in the attack, but very susceptible at the back.

Make it 4-1. Roman Pavlyuchenko emphatically sends one home. Russia is looking good to win the group if today's game is any measure.

Group A Standings after today:

1. Russia - 3 points
2. (tie) Poland - 1 point
2. (tie) Greece - 1 point
4. Czech Republic - 0 points

Tiebreaker is not goal differential, but head-to-head result.

It seems like all the talk about the "Group of Death" is focused on Germany, the Netherlands, and Portugal. I really think a lot of people are overlooking Denmark here. In fact, I believe that Portugal is the worst team in the group and it would not surprise me one bit if the Dutch and Germans were the two to make it out of the group.

Portugal haven't been playing to well as of late either. They were runners-up in '04 (Host) & World Cup semi-finalists in '06, so I think those achievements have made them appear better than they really were since. Having Cristiano Ronaldo on the team alone brings them the heightened publicity & expectations.

Europe slept on Denmark in '92 & they ended up winning the whole thing. I can't see this happening this time around, but Denmark have generally been a real solid squad the past 20 years or so.

I'm supporting the Netherlands for as long as they're in it. This is going to be an entertaining group though and I can envision any of the four sides coming out on top - even Denmark if they can pull off a surprise win while the other three draw their matches amongst each other.

I'd hope that Michael Ballack improves as the month goes on.

Not my opinion, but sports TV critics seem to be panning his commentary. The one thing I've noticed is, he's kind of slow and indecisive in his analysis.

But I recall the days when ESPN didn't have any side shows for the World Cup or EURO's and just showed the games.

Andy Gray was a treat last EURO on ESPN (but obviously ESPN wasn't going to bring him in this time).

Unfortunately, no. :(

Sis picked it up when she was traveling Europe a few years back and used her time in Germany to get me a birthday present. Can't be too mad at her.

A Muller (best), Schweinsteiger (favorite), or a Klinnsman would have been sweet though.
Schweinsteiger would be the shit. Deutschland FTW.
