UEFA Champions League (Official Thread)

Arsenal will be without Cesc Fabregas as he picked up a knock on Saturday, and still without William Gallas. They'll likely field a lineup of Almunia, Clichy, Vermaelen, Campbell, Sagna or Eboue, Song, Diaby, Nasri, Walcott, Arshavin, Bendtner.

Arsenal haven't missed Fabregas one bit as they have put on a clinic at the Emirates stadium.....currently leading 4-0 and 5-2 on aggregate against FC Porto

Fiorentina lead Bayern Munich 3-2 in the second leg, but are down on away goals as the current aggregate is 4-4

Oh my GOD Arsenal played so well. I cannot wipe the smile off my face. They were brilliant. It could've easily been 8-0. I love this team. Arshavin was brilliant. Nasri played in Cesc's position perfectly. Bendtner (for once) scored when he should have. I love life.

Man U beats the hell out of Milan 4-0. Rooney got subbed out with MU ahead 3-0 in the 65th minute.

I don't really have a favorite team, but Wayne Rooney has been my favorite player to watch this season. Dude's motor is just always going, and he can score in so many ways. Incredible player.

Watching Cristiano Ronaldo walk off like a bitch this afternoon was almost as good.

That's gotta be some sweet justice for United fans.

I couldn't be happier for Ronaldo. He got his dream move. To play for a team that can't get past the knockout round of the Champions League and can't win the title in Spain. I hope he has all the hardware he needs cause with that team of ball hogs, he isn't likely to win much more. In addition, I hope he enjoys not having to play so many rough games a year.

The first leg of the Europa 16s are today. I like (to advance, not necessarily today):

Hamburg over Anderlecht
Kazan over Wolf, though that's a toughie
Lisbon over A Madrid
Liverpool walks over Lille
Pan over Liege
Marseille over Benfica
Valencia and Werder is a bit of a toss-up, I'll go with Werder

And sadly, I think my Fulham boys get rolled by Juve, though their is always a chance that the underachieving Juve will show up

I think the best summary of my thoughts on Chelsea's loss would be the following:
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Hahaha. Woo.

Good thing you sacked Mourinho for not playing Shevchenko, huh Abramovich?

Probably the biggest mistake at Stamford Bridge was to bring Shevchenko to Chelsea. Who would've thought that decision would shake up European soccer forever?

However, great win for Inter.....Italian soccer really needed that result, especially after the thrashing of AC Milan and the exit of Fiorentina.

Italian soccer needed that far worse than you think. If Inter had lost to Chelsea, the Italian league would have been reduced to 3 teams in the Champions League instead of the 4 they have currently. The Germans and Italians are allotted 7 teams for the 2 countries and if one or the other miss the quarterfinals for 3 years running the extra slot is moved to the other country.

Abramovich will most likely never taste what he wants most. Champions League glory. This teams core group maybe have 2 years left befor it will be time to start retooling the team. Terry, Lampard, Ballack & Drogba are in their prime and Carvalho is maybe already on the down slope of his career.

Sorry, just had to jump back in with a Europa Update:

HOLY SHIT! :banger: :banger: :banger:

Fulham records the 4-1 dusting of Juve to advance. Very proud of the boys with this effort and the 5-4 agg.

With Winston Wolfsburg in the next round, all of a sudden it looks like they have a chance to pull this thing off, or at least make some noise. German sides are always a tough draw though. Elsewhere it's a Spanish affair versus Valencia and A Madrid, Hamburg takes on Standard from Belgium, and perhaps the matchup of the tournament rounds it out, with Benfica taking on Liverpool.
