UEFA Champions League (Official Thread)

Lyon beats Bordeaux 3-1 in Bordeaux.

Bayern beats Manchester United 2-1 in Munich after a stoppage time goal by Ivica Olic. United need to get their shit together for the weekend (or not), didn't look good at all. Rooney also limped off at the end of the game. As someone who doesn't know anything about foot/ankle injuries, it didn't look good.

Arsenal/Barca and Inter/CSKA tomorrow.

It's not impossible, especially since Barca will be without Pique and Puyol and have a tougher weekend fixture than Arsenal, but you have to think that Arsenal's chances of going through are unbelievably slim. *sigh*

One of those games where I think we're either going to pull out some magic or get our shit rocked.

Looks like Barca and Inter today...not a big surprise. Interesting to see if ManU can keep England in it with France, Spain, and Italy, or if Germany goes through and England is shut out (except for Fulham, who is whuppin' ass in Europa :banger:).

Maybe being eliminated from the Champions League and perhaps not winning the Premier League will lead to the Glazers selling the team, less fan backlash and a step toward greater financial stability at Old Trafford.

Regardless if the Glazers sell or not (who knows if they'll sell to the Red Knights), David Gill needs to buy this summer.

And buy he has. United announced today that they have an agreement in place to buy 21 yr old Mexican Javier Hernandez from Chivas. He is the newest striker to break into the Mexican National Team. The big story I keep seeing on the British tabloid sites is Joe Cole to United on a free this summer. His contract with Chelsea is up in June. Also look for United to make a bid on the Russian National Team keeper and or Athletico Madrid's young keeper David de Gea. Some other names to be on the look out for are Angel di Maria of Benfica and Marnick Vermijl of Standard Liege. Standard has a long history of selling their top players to United.

In other news, this season has become very disappointing in the last few weeks. I sure hope United do some big business in the summer as this team is far too reliant on one man, no matter how good he is.
